Map of Ski

What are some of the benefits in skiing in Wyoming? Well, for starters it gets an annual dumping of 400 inches – that’s over 33 feet of pure white powder. With that much snow it’s near impossible not to have a great experience at one of the ski resorts here. Whether you love to ski or board, prefer to explore well known locations or would rather spend your time on the lesser known slopes, you have thousands and thousands of acres to perfect your style. A winter vacation in Wyoming may just be what your skis and snowboards are craving. Go ahead and satisfy them.

Jackson Hole

You’ll think you’re Alice in Wonderland as you make your way down Jackson Hole. Getting its name from the steep slopes, you truly feel like you’re descending into a hole. And that’s exactly what you’re looking for as a skier. The terrain is fantastic, all 8,000 acres of it, giving you plenty of opportunity to perfect your style. But all the beautiful runs in the world don’t mean much unless you have good snow. Fortunately for you, Jackson Hole has fantastic powder. What makes this place pretty amazing as well is the town of Jackson. With a western feel as its motto you’ll enjoy great art galleries, restaurants and even a few boutiques. Just keep your eyes open for the roaming elk.

Big Horn

What’s light and dry? Big Horn’s fantastic powder. Although they have a lot of natural snow to keep you satisfied, they also make use of the snow machines just to ensure you get ideal ski conditions. There are 14 runs to choose from, each one targeting a specific ski level, whether you board or ski. Something exciting for the snowboarders is that Big Horn is home to the longest half pipe in the state. If you’re not sure what a half pipe is, it’s probably best to stick to the skis. The common factor to them all though is the stunning beauty that surrounds the mountain. It’s almost worth falling just to take the moment to look around. Another added bonus to choose Big Horn as your ski destination is its affordable lift ticket prices. To sum up you get fantastic runs and amazing snow all at a price that won’t put you into shock. Sounds pretty great doesn't it?

Grand Targhee

Some ski locations don’t like to gamble against Mother Nature and so they have their snowmaking machines on standby just in case. Not Grand Targhee. Then again, with a pretty much guarantee of 500 inches, that’s right – 500 inches, of snow per season, it would truly be a waste of money to spend it on machines. What to do with 500 inches of snow? You ski to your heart’s content, or at least until your legs are begging you to stop. Something else that makes Grand Targhee a great ski location is the opportunity to take part in the legendary Snowcat Adventures. A group of ten makes their way to Peaked Mountain where a Snowcat takes you to the top and you ski your way down more than 1,000 acres of white fluff. The good news is that you can repeat this whole adventure up to ten runs in a day. Grand Targhee really seems to have a knack for knowing what skiers want.
