Map of Ski

To have a slogan that claims to have the greatest snow on earth is pretty dicey. Unless you can back it up, your Colorado neighbors will mock you all season long if the powder is anything less than ideal. Good thing you’ll find nothing but fantastic powder on Utah’s mountain peaks. It’s actually quite amazing to see how perfect this snow can be. And with all that ideal snow, it’s no wonder why the primary focus for those that love to ski come here to ski. What else would they do? Well, some ski locations focus on their nightlife and restaurants about as much as they do the mountains themselves. Although Utah has some pretty fancy ski destinations and a great selection of restaurants and shops, you’ll find that snow is the primary reason why so many come. That means you’ll find yourself beside some very focused skiers.

The Canyons

Considering what a favorite it is among the locals, it’s surprising how small the crowds are. The eight peaks that make up the Canyons give skiers plenty of space to perfect their style. Another added bonus for all that space is the snow patches that are waiting to be discovered by you. The terrain here is pretty diverse as well, which means whatever your level you’ll be able to enjoy a great day on the slopes.

Snowbird

The term snowbird is often associated with those persons of a certain age that head down south to warmer climates to avoid the chill of the winter months. That is definitely not the case for Utah’s Snowbird. If you’re making your way here, you’re aching for the crisp air, blankets of snow and stellar views. Another added bonus is that it’s quite close to Salt Lake City, making it an ideal location for those looking to start skiing as soon as they arrive in Utah. Snowbird’s location is also fantastic for the amount of snow that falls here during the year. It’s like the entire mountainside is encased in a snow globe. Even though it’s ideally situated for both locals and visitors, the terrain spreads across 2,500 acres, which are divided into 89 runs. And so, Snowbird is ideal for those looking to experience one of Utah’s best winter destinations.

Park City

You’ll be able to explore everything Park City has to offer with more than 14 chairs to get you to any point of the mountain. The terrain is fantastic and includes runs for those looking for a relaxing time on the mountainside as well as trails and drops perfect for the thrill seekers coming with you. Perhaps the locals don’t get too excited with the long winters, but for those that love to ski, Park City’s climate gives you many months of skiable weather. And if these reasons don’t entice you enough to come, maybe knowing that these slopes were used during the 2002 Winter Olympics will. If they’re good enough for the pros, you should definitely find them to be your cup of cocoa. What to do after a great day on the slopes? Park City is a beautiful town filled with amazing restaurants and quaint shops.

Deer Valley

If you want the cream of the crop of Utah’s ski locations look no further than Deer Valley. It’s pretty amazing to see how high-class this mountain can be. Top notch grooming help make your ski days rut free, the lifts are in pristine condition and the trails themselves are long and wonderful. You’ll pay more for skiing here (rumor has it that it’s one of the highest lift ticket prices across the nation) but if you’re willing to cough up the dough, you won’t be disappointed with the service you get.
