Vail

If you’re interested in a fantastic ski getaway that doesn’t just include skiing or boarding, Vail might just be what you’re looking for. Well known for its impressive trails and great selection of greens, blues and blacks, Vail welcomes any type of skier. If you’re not to sure how to ski, or just want to pick up a few pointers, you’ll find one of the very best ski schools in the nation here. And although the mountain is reason enough to come Vail is also well known for its amazing village, great shopping, fantastic cuisine and happening nightlife. After a long day on the slopes it’s nice to know that the time you spend away from the trails can be enjoyed in so many ways.

Steamboat Springs

Blessed with more than 300 inches of snow per year and offering more than 140 trails, Steamboat is one of those ski hills that continues to draw back its patrons year after year. If you’ve never skied before and are afraid to try, Steamboat has a fantastic beginners-only section, complete with its own lift. It’s a great place to take your time to learn, without having to stress about being in someone’s way. There are also nice trails for cross-country skiers. Prefer the blues and blacks over the green runs? Steamboat has a fantastic selection of trails that will keep you very happy while you’re here. Considering Steamboat is home to more than 30 Winter Olympians, you should find the slopes to be a great challenge. Chances are very good that you’ll be quite sore after your first day… it’s amazing where you find muscles after a few runs. When you need to loosen up, Steamboat Springs has got you covered… well, more like soaked. The natural mineral hot springs located by the Steamboat Health and Recreation Center, are ideal for a relaxing soak.

Copper Mountain

Fun – that’s what Copper Mountain provides. Spend an entire day tubing down the ‘tubers only’ hill or pair up on a snowmobile and discover the trails at the mountain base. Or you could go skiing, which is probably your primary reason for coming here. The trails are fantastic and there are snowmaking machines to guarantee ideal powder conditions. Get even more runs in now that there’s a super fast six-passenger chairlift. There’s also a high-speed quad chairlift for the upper area of Copper Mountain. Whether you’re just starting out or consider yourself to be an old pro, Copper Mountain’s trails are ideal for every skier and boarder out there.

Keystone

A one word description for Keystone is big. This amazing ski hill spans over three mountains. Considering its size, you’re probably wondering how you’ll be able to explore it all. Good news – there are close to 20 lifts that can take you to whichever trail suits you the best. Whether you come just once or over and over again in a season, you’ll be happy to know that Keystone gives you lots of time to explore its terrain since they provide 12-hour ski days… how great is that! And no, the sun doesn’t shine here longer. Keystone just offers a great selection of night skiing. The snow can take a beating with all of the ski traffic but the snow machines make up for it. When you need a break, or your legs are begging you for one, take a romantic ride in a horse-drawn carriage, go ice-skating or simply relax and rest up for another exciting day on Keystone.

Breckenridge

When the air starts to turn a bit colder, chances are pretty good that the die hard skiers and boarders are already aching to get on the slopes. Breckenridge is one of those places where those that know what they’re doing come to challenge themselves for yet another season. There are ideal runs suited for the ski experts, including one area designated only for them. Don’t worry about getting on a wrong chairlift and finding yourself on this challenging terrain. The only way to get here is to hike up to it. Perhaps you’re not at that level just yet. There are also slopes perfect for those still perfecting their skills. This area also gets a good dose from the snowmaking machines making it even better to master your technique. What makes Breckenridge a great place as well is the town itself. There is a fantastic selection of restaurants making it nearly impossible to go hungry here.
