Loreto Vacations

Map of Mexico

Loreto was founded in 1697 by the Jesuits and is the oldest town in Baja California. And the result is a place that is rich in history. Loreto has the added benefit of showcasing a sparkling sea, pristine beaches and blue skies. And although that’s fantastic for you, its even more so for the marine life that surrounds it and that means you can explore the many species that have found a refuge here.

Take the opportunity to ride a horse through beautiful nature, whether it’s along the beaches or through the sloping Sierra de la Giganta. Take your time on the Baja 1000 route. Although this path is a Mecca for those who love extreme off road racing, you have the luxury stopping to enjoy the sites, which include cave paintings and colonial missions. Feel like a round of golf? Campo de Golf Loreto is a fantastic golf course, all 6,800 yards of it, which offers you an 18-hole golfer’s paradise. It’s located on Boulevard Misión de San Ignacio.

Take a short trek to the islands that face Loreto for even more enjoyment. Isla Carmen is filled with beaches and coves and Catalina has an amazing display of greenery. The Coronados are surrounded by aqua blue waters and is a playground for sea lions while the Danzantes are geared more for scuba divers with its rocky edges. In general, the islands are great for fishing. There is an abundance of marlin, sailfish and yellowtail. You’ll probably see dolphins playing in the water and might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a blue whale.
