Saint Croix is one of the largest U.S. Virgin Islands. Its a picturesque island that welcomes guests with open arms. On the west end of the island lies Fort Frederiksted, built to protect the island from pirates. Frederiksted is also the site where slaves were liberated from the Danish West Indies, and thus is affectionately called Freedom City. Another fantastic town is Christiansted. The historic site here preserves the way of life on St. Croix during its colonial administration. Its a great place to learn about this islands history. There are also more than 100 plantations located throughout the island, a few of which have been restored and are open for tours. St. Croix is proud to have the only underwater national park in the world. Buck Island Reef National Park is an amazing place where you can explore the underwater life along its snorkeling trail as you swim, paddle or bob along. And a great way to end the day, or start, or to celebrate something right in the middle of it, is to enjoy a nice glass of Cruzan Rum.
