Comprised of the North and South Islands as well as a number of smaller ones, New Zealand boasts close to 9,500 miles of coastline. Their fantastic sites and outdoor adventure attract both repeat and first time visitors. The North Island is known for its volcanoes, beaches and countryside. The major cities here include Wellington, its capital, and Auckland. The South Island is the larger of the two and offers dense forests, mountains, beaches and fjords. Queenstown is ideal for adventure seekers while Christchurch is affectionately known as the Garden City.
