Madison is a huge college town that welcomes visitors to explore its city. Home to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and other smaller post-secondary institutions the place is filled with college age students and great learning centers.

The four lakes in and surrounding Madison give you plenty of chances to make the most out of the water activities that abound here. There are also many beautiful parks and interesting sites worth exploring. The Cave of the Mounds is located in Blue Mounds, which is just a short drive away. Here you’ll find a fantastic cave system below the ground and great activities above. You’ll be able to be part of a guided tour, mine for gems or simply enjoy the scenery. Try to make time for a visit to the Capitol building and the great museums in the area as well.

Don’t be too surprised if you see more bikes that cars in Madison. The Lake Monona Bike Trail Loop and the many other bike trails that snake around the city are filled with health-conscience people making the most of the groomed paths. Those interested in shopping will want to head over to State Street. Madison also has its fair share of festivals. The Dane County Farmers’ Market, open on Saturday during the summer months, is one of the largest in the U.S. The Rhythm and Booms event is held in honor of Independence Day each year. The combination of planes, music and fireworks makes it one of the best celebrations in the Midwest.
