I was disappointed that the Marriott tried to get every dime out of its guests beyond the room fee: had to pay to park, internet was 9.95, local calls a dollar a piece (at least they did not charge us for the pool/exercise room) like another Marriott did recently (whether I used it or not).

Get service.

It was a perfect stay.

Their customer service has improved since my last stay.

The parking attendant situation was a bit odd as we left our keys at the desk but did not know we had to have them to get out of the garage.

This hotel is in a great location - across the street from the downtown mall. The front desk gave us a map and directions to a super breakfast restaurant. There was a nice bar with TV's, a workout room with nice equipment, a hot tub and indoor pool - all of which we used and enjoyed. We loaded and unloaded our car, and self-parked which we really like to do - no waiting on bellmen, or valet parking attendants either.

The rooms were very nice - upscale linens on the beds.

The alarm clock went off next door in vacant room (6:30am on Saturday) and it took 45 minutes to get it turned off.

The 352-room Charleston Marriott Town Center hotel is near Charleston Yeager Airport and located in the heart of downtown Charleston, WV. The non-smoking, 16-story full-service hotel operates a shuttle to the airport. Other items included in the room rate are local telephone calls and a morning newspaper. The property is within minutes of the Charleston Civic Center, University of Charleston, and Tri State Racetrack and Gaming Center Casino. There are 16 meeting rooms for social or business functions. The largest, the grand ballroom can accommodate 850 guests. The property is set in landscaped grounds and has direct access to the Charleston Town Center Mall.

All the guestrooms, and five suites, have a work desk with high-speed Internet access, cable television with movie channels and pay-per-view movies, alarm clock, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, coffee and tea making facilities and two-line telephone with voicemail. The more expensive executive rooms have the benefit of using the concierge lounge, which serves a full breakfast, evening hors d'oeuvres and all-day beverages.

Many previous visitors to this hotel say this is the best place to stay in Charleston. The modern property gets good reviews for its location near the shopping mall and a professional and efficient team of employees. There were some complaints about the $8 parking charge and the fact there only three elevators, which were very slow. Tip from those who stayed here: The higher floors give you great views of the mountains.
