The Independence Hall is a must for any history buffs traveling with you. If you have a few chatterboxes in the car you’ll want to make a stop at the Museum of Radio and Technology. It is one of the largest museums that display the history of communication. The world famous Blenko Glass Factory has created beautiful stained glass windows that are showcased around the world. Accident-prone persons should probably skip this venue though. The Wheeling Suspension Bridge was built over 150 ago and was once the longest in the world. Although a few newer ones have been built since its debut, this bridge is still quite impressive.
West Virginia’s natural beauty draws thousands of visitors every year. The Appalachian Mountains are a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and both Fitzpatrick Park and Lake Stephens Park are great places to explore. Taking part in the Rails to Trails program you’ll find fantastic paths located throughout the state. Railway ties now give way to groomed trails that provide fantastic views of the surrounding areas.
When you get tired of doing all that physical exercise you could make your way to the Island Racetrack and Gaming Center. It’s been around for a few centuries and continues to draw visitors by the thousands every year. Greyhound racing, one-armed bandits and many other favorites abound here.
West Virginia also knows how to put on a party with the fantastic festivals held throughout the year. The annual Sternwheel Regatta, Vandalia Festival and Appalachian Coal Town Christmas and Light Festival are only a few of the events you can enjoy.
