The Ace Hotel is breaking the rules and getting Generation Y to meet their great grandparent's values. Expect to communicate with your fellow travelers as you unplug, schlep your own luggage, and even share a bath down the hall (Deluxe rooms have their own bath). It's green, functional, uses less resources and rethinks the big car, big house, big chair and big clothes way of thinking. It isn't crazy but eccentric in its approach and is a hotel chain waiting to happen. The Ace Hotel is stylish and European in its approach to function. This hotel also had a write-up in The "New York Times" Sunday Magazine (4/1/07).

Seattle is the birthplace of so many retail and service trends (Costco, REI, Starbucks, Eddie Bauer, etc). Why not a new hotel brand like ACE? While this review has been tounge in cheek, we need to take a page from the under 30's songbook, limited resources, less is more, reuse, recycle etc. This is ideal for the business traveler or a traveling pair looking for comfort, function and legends. It is steps from Pike Place Market (eat there on a budget) or you could catch some music at The Showbox, Triple Door, Jazz Alley or the Moore (all within walking distance). The Sculpture Park is down the hill (see it before the taggers get there). Next stop Portland's ACE! Read our customer reviews?
Step into newly designed, modern, and fashionable hotel rooms that are housed in an historical Belltown building. Deluxe rooms have private baths while standard rooms have shared baths. Chic style but pennies on the dollar of CITY branded hotels. Rooms have a sink and vanity. All guest rooms are different. Some have hardwood floors and each room displays unique artwork.
The lobby area promotes guest interaction, as in how people shared travel stories before being plugged in. There is a complimentary continental breakfast and high speed Internet. Parking is available for a fee, but save money by leaving the car at home or parking it at a park and ride lot and take the Metro. The Ace Hotel is very close to the clubs, restaurants, shopping and theaters.
From the South (Sea-Tac Airport):
Take I-5 northbound. Take Seneca street exit. Follow Seneca street west until you reach First Avenue. Turn right on First Avenue (heading north). Go straight up First Avenue about 10 blocks. They are located on the left-hand side of First Avenue at the southwest corner of First Avenue & Wall Street. Entrance is on First Avenue, at street level, near the Cyclops Bar entrance. Check out my blog for the "backdoor" route to the city or wait until 2010 for light rail from the airport. Ask your taxi driver to take the backdoor route as traffic can delay you and add time and dollars to your meter.
From the North (Vancouver, BC):
Take I-5 southbound. Take Stewart/Denny exit. Follow Stewart Street down to First Avenue. Turn right on First Avenue and go a few blocks north. They are located on the left-hand side of First Avenue at the southwest corner of First Avenue & Wall Street. The entrance is on First Avenue, at street level, near the Cyclops Bar entrance.
