Enjoyed my stay - posted on 04/16/2007
This is a conveniently located and comfortable hotel with an individuality of its own. The attached restaurant is good too. Although some of the reviews said that the rooms are really small, I thought they were allright. The bathrooms are rather small though.

A good hotel for a fun visit to Seattle. I was on a business trip and found the extra small closets and lack of drawers to be a negative. Rooms are very small with no place to sit and relax. Not good for multiple nights on business.

I loved this hotel. On my first trip to Seattle we spent several night here. The hotel has much more character than your average chain. I was very comfortable and not bothered by the small rooms. The resturant was tasty and the bar was a hip spot to start the night. Very convienent location.
The Max misses the mark - posted on 08/27/2006
When you have to go into the hotel to find the valet, you know that service isn't the top priority at this hotel. The halls are narrow and dark...to highlight the artwork on the doors. The only chair in the room was an uncomfortable desk chair. There are many better choices for a hotel in downtown Seattle.

Booked this hotel even after reading the comments about small rooms. They were very small. The bed was great though. Location was good as we walked to all the destinations we wanted to visit. Front Desk was wonderful about giving directions, suggesting places to eat and also getting us what we needed quickly. I would stay there again.

The rooms are very small, but if all you want is a place to sleep and easy walking access to Seattle attractions, this is a good spot. Good price at the introductory rates last year. Once it's full price, I'd stay somewhere more glamorous.
Great place to stay - posted on 12/13/2005
This hotel was very inexpensive for Seatlle. The location was great for being able to walk every where in downtown. The rooms were charming, but a bit small. But for the price and location who cares. The staff was gracious and the place was immaculate. I will stay there again.
bad rooms, cheap renovation - posted on 11/30/2005
I've stayed in really small rooms in NYC (The Time hotel) that were fun and incredibly functional. The rooms in this hotel pretend to be well designed, but are just a cheap renovation resulting in a totally unusable room - you can hardly move in them at all. The heat is provided through a window air conditioner unit and is very noisy, so much so that we avoided the room and when we went to bed, we slept in the cold. A chipped drinking glass was not replaced the next day and apparently not even washed but put back on the tray. Huge disappointment. I would never stay here again - at any price.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderfully unique hotel. Hats off to the designers of not just the rooms but the halls and lobby. The bed had to be the most comfortable we've ever slept in at a hotel! The location in the heart of downtown Seattle made it so convenient for the sight seeing excursion we took. The staff was most accomodating and friendly. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Seattle.

Vance Hotel changed to Hotel Max while we were staying. Only one slow elevator servicable and we were checked into an already occupied room. when completed, should be OK.
Staying in a Museum - posted on 10/11/2005
This hotel is like staying in a museum. It contains different art in every corner. Prompt and accomodating service. However, queen rooms are barely large enough for a bed and suitcase, but very well decorated, with the exception of some bathrooms which are a jarring red. A 3am visit to that room made me understand for the first time why bathrooms are usually painted in dark or soft, restful colors. I was very glad that I did not have a hangover.
Should be Hotel Mini - posted on 10/05/2005
Although the location is excellent and the staff was friendly, the newly renovated hotel is too small. Too small shower, too small sink, too small room, too small elevator, too small vision for what people want. One thing that was big was the price. Several people we talked to won't be staying there again, including us.
A tasty treat! - posted on 09/30/2005
My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised by our stay at this wonderful gem. The staff were wondrously curteous and helpful. Our room was beatifully appointed and the beds were soooo comfy! Although the re-model in the lobby is still incomplete, it did not in any way hamper the service provided by the great staff. I look forward to staying on my next visit at this unique and tastefully decorated hotel!

Rooms extremely modern! Each room door decorated. Take time to look at the doors, what a treat! Staff went above and beyond. Very helpful.

Under renovation. Small rooms with nice modern decor. Not much room to move around, with small bathroom, fixtures etc. Good rate for Seattle, but have an open mind.
Small Rooms - posted on 09/20/2005
My stay at the Vance was very disappointing. The front counter was a grafittied ply board desk and the whole area could barely fit the five people who were in line. The elevators could only fit 3-4 people, so often I had to wait for the next one to go up. The rooms were also tiny. The fridge was broken and no one ever ended up coming to fix it.
Not for the Business traveler - posted on 08/12/2005
The website boasted of the newly renovated hotel equipped with all new amenities! I was in utter shock when I enter the hotel from the street to see a make shift counter lined in graffiti! There were no dinning facilities and the rooms were extremely small! So if you are a person of more than medium stature this hotel is not for you! I?m 6?4? 225lbs & I felt trapped, the shower was very tight the sink hindered toilet access. The most upsetting thing for me was internet! Internet coast $10 per day, which most hotels offer free access!

Room was small, very modern, small bathroom, beware!!!! under renovations, can be noisy. Stay away from rooms near elevators, there is poor insulation.
Fun! - posted on 06/18/2005
This room seemed to be made for my sister and me. It was crisp, clean, modern. The TV was one of those skinny flat-screened ones, the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in -- big fluffy duvets, not those disgusting hotel bed spreads. The bathroom was small, but very sleek, stylish and clean. The best part about the hotel was the huge black-and-white photos that were on every room door -- so unique! Like a gallery within a hotel. And you can't get a better location.

The Vance is still in the throes of renovation, but the experience is still a good one. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful, and the rooms are extremely comfortable, clean and well-appointed. The beds are fantastically comfy, and I haven't slept so well since leaving home! . Overall, good value for money (the online booking discount is great!)

We really enjoyed our visit. The rooms were cozy and the staff went out of their way to assist on questions about tours and things to do in town
