The 250-room Courtyard by Marriott Seattle Downtown Lake Union is on the western shore of Lake Union and provides quality accommodation equally suited to the upmarket business or pleasure traveler. The seven-story, non-smoking hotel is just blocks from the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, monorail and many boat excursion companies. Items included with the room rate are high-speed Internet access, local telephone calls, a morning newspaper and coffee available in the lobby 24/7. There are three meeting rooms available for business or social functions. The largest can accommodate 90 guests. Area landmarks and attractions include six golf courses, Key Arena, Pike Place Market, the Kenmore Seaplanes, the Seattle waterfront, the Woodland Park Zoo, Washington State Convention Center, Tillicum Village and Blake Island.

Visitors to Seattle say this is an amazing Courtyard, pricey, but many believe it is worth the money. Words of warning from previous clients: Get a room with an even number so that if faces over the lake and not onto an apartment building which has a reputation for late night parties. Several guest said they were better off without a car. They saved the $18 a night parking charge and the Seattle Streetcar stop is across the street from the hotel and takes you to all the sights. All the rooms have a well-lit work desk with high-speed Internet access, television with cable movie and news channels and pay-per-view movies, pullout sofa bed, alarm clock, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and two-line telephone with voicemail.

This hotel has an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and a fitness center. The Courtyard Café and the on-site LaMontagne's Restaurant are open for breakfast and dinner. LaMontagne's Lounge has a fully stocked bar and serves lighter fare. Room service is available in the evenings from 5pm until 10pm. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes. Other amenities include a concierge desk, full service business center, daily housekeeping, a coin-operated laundry, valet dry-cleaning, ice and vending machines and a gift shop and newsstand.

From Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA) 17 miles: When exiting Sea-Tac Airport, follow signs 'to freeways’. Continue following signs to Interstate 5 Seattle/Tacoma. Take the I-5 Seattle exit (north) and go approximately 15 miles into downtown Seattle. Your exit will be # 167, Mercer Street / Seattle Center. This is a left lane exit. Turn right on Fairview Avenue then an immediate left on Valley Street. Go one block, right on Westlake Avenue North. The Courtyard is on the left.
