200 6th Avenue North
Seattle, WA 98109
Chain: Travelodge
This hotel leads my list of convenient and reasonably priced hotels than most others found in the Seattle Center area. The Travelodge is a friendly destination that offers you more value, including FREE PARKING. Originally opened in 1962, the room doors used to open to the outside. However, it now has enclosed hallways and one main entrance. Value season is Oct-May. The Travelodge is steps to the Space Needle, Seattle Center, fast food and value restaurants. KING TV (NBC) and KOMO TV (ABC) are also close by. Woodland Park Zoo is just four miles to the north. The Belltown Club scene is only a few blocks away and Waterfront is about 6 blocks away. Oh, yes, the Seattle Sculpture Park just opened near the waterfront. It may be 2 stars to some, for me it deserves 5 stars for value!

I have spent many nights here, usually when it was my nickel, with the kids, or traveling for business on a measly per diem. The proximity to the Seattle Center as a native has always provided a little magic for me. Many from around the world share that. You are also close to many festival and event venues. Yes, it is a little worn but the elevators are convenient and the rooms come with the essentials. Sleeping rooms are cozy and have a nice sitting area, TV's with remote, coffee maker, hair dryer and air conditioning. There's also a nice easy chair or two plus an ottoman in each room. A front-facing room gives you the view of the Gehry designed Experience Music Project (the wrapper the Space Needle came in) and the Space Needle, which is just steps away.
The staff is a great ambassador to the Seattle tourist. Start the day off right with the free continental breakfast (coffee, juice and Sweet Rolls). It's a reasonably quiet place when watching the travel dollar. Restaurants, fast food outlets, convenience stores are all within walking distance. A hot tub and small pool add to this value. With a public lobby, safety is insured and it is a great place to meet fellow travelers, guests and the helpful staff.
Taking Interstate 5, north or south, take the Denny Way Exit and head east to Sixth Avenue, turn right, go two blocks. OR, Seattle traffic have your tail in a knot? SHHHH. Take HWY 99 exit for Seattle Center if heading south. If heading north, take HWY 509 which turns into HWY 99, carefully mounting our viaduct and taking the Western Avenue Exit, head up the hill to Sixth Avenue and go north. (The preceding route is preferred by taxi drivers and our carge shipment industry).
