Overall, the hotel was great. Location, staff and amenities were much appreciated. Size of bathroom was a little small and cramped. Otherwise a great stay.

Everything you need! - posted on 10/05/2006

This hotel has it all - location, great rooms, a fantastic restaurant and great staff. A short walk to Dupont Circle Metro makes it convenient to get around DC. Dozens of restaurants of all kinds within easy walking distance. Firefly, restaurant on site, is exceptional - great atmosphere, creative menu, delicious food, excellent service and a terrific wine list. Large and nicely appointed rooms with the most comfortable beds and pillows ever! Great leopard print robes, too! I was a tad concerned about it being "pet friendly", but, no worries - no pet hair, very clean!

My best hotel experience - posted on 01/03/2006

I visited over New Year's weekend and staying at the Madera was the highlight of the trip. Huge room with warm, yet modern decor, balcony, big closets and attention paid to detail (umbrella, robes, Aveda products, special greeting for registered dogs, free paper, nice responsive staff). Firefly restaurant great and Dupont Circle location is perfect. Two blocks from Metro means no rental car needed. I'm going back

Madera in July - posted on 07/30/2005

Room decor contemporary, very nicely done. Beds extremely comfy. We were offered two queens instead of 1 king. As a consequence got a bigger room with a balcony. Smoking rooms smell but have their own floor. Non-smokers should definitely request a non-smoking room. Calls via calling cards are free, otherwise local calls are $1 plus 10 cents a minute. Staff very friendly. Concierge okay, not great. They tell you parking costs extra when you arrive. Had to reconfirm free parking was included. Get it in writing in your reservation. Dupont circle, nice neighborhood. I'd stay there again.

Comfy Rooms - posted on 04/07/2005

The rooms were great. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel. Friendly Staff. Only complaint was the breakfast buffet. It was sad and extremely overpriced.

Thank you - posted on 01/15/2005

Stayed there in January 2005. For those of you that have four legged friends, this is the hotel for you. Not only are pets welcomed, they totally pampered. We felt much appreciated at this hotel and look forward to returning. Let me not forget to mention extraordinary customer service. Thank you, - for an awesome weekend.??

Excellent Hotel - posted on 10/05/2004

I can't say enough about the this hotel. Having stayed at many hotels across the U.S., this hotel ranked at the top of the list. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Loved the wine hour. Room was large (we had four people in room). There was a walk out balcony overlooking the neigborhood. Bathroom was small, but there were two big closets. Within walking distance to MANY great restaurants and one block from the Metro. The Metro was easy to use and you were at the monuments and museums in about 10 minutes. I highly recommend this hotel.
