About the Hay Adams Hotel

When you want to get as close as possible to the White House, book a room or suite at The Hay Adams. Built in the 1920s, it was originally a residential hotel across the street from the White House. The unusual name is a derivation on two historic figures in American history: John Hay, private assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and author Henry Adams, descendant of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Today, Hay Adams manages to seamlessly blend the charm and hospitality of bygone eras with sophisticated modern amenities. From the elegant lobby with gleaming chandeliers, carved ceilings and warm wood paneling to the smallest details of rooms and suites and first-class service, it’s easy to see why The Hay Adams tops “Best Hotels” lists each year and has rightfully earned its place as one of the Leading Hotels of the World.
