This is the place to visit if you want to learn more about the United States. It’s also the place to go if you’d like to visit some of the nation’s best museums. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of its fine dining establishments and catch a fantastic show. Second only to New York in number of theater seats, the theater life continues to flourish.

Spend your evenings dancing the night away. Its true, this city has some of the best nightclubs around and has a huge selection for you to choose from. And although it offers so much for its guests, the major drawing card for most is its museums and other national institutions.

Where to begin? The Smithsonian is home to 13 incredible museums and galleries as well as a zoo. Some of the fascinating attractions include a full-size spacecraft, the stunning Hope Diamond, exhibits on dinosaurs, the original American Flag and the original Kermit the Frog. There’s something for everyone to explore. All of the world-class institutions showcased within the Smithsonian make it the largest grouping of museums in the world.

About a half block away is the National Holocaust Museum and it has the reputation of being the best museum the city has to offer. Another must see is the Lincoln Memorial. Stand on the very steps Martin Luther King Jr. preached his legendary ‘I have a dream’ speech. You could also visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as it illustrates the sacrifice of many soldiers.

The city’s most well known landmark is the White House. It does offer free tours of eight interior rooms, but the lines can be a bit long. The Capitol is at the center of the city and has impressive murals showcasing the nation’s heroes. The Washington Monument offers the best view of Potomac Basin. It should since you’re up 555ft. The Kennedy Center is America’s living memorial to President Kennedy and there are hundreds of free performances featuring national and local artists throughout the year. Washington has something for everyone to explore.
