Norfolk can be found along the Elizabeth River. The term river is actually a bit misleading. This impressive stretch of water is home to one of the largest navel bases in the world, the Norfolk Navel Base. Although this base does dock a naval fleet, it is also home base for many fantastic cruises heading out to the Atlantic Ocean. If youre not going on the cruise, its worth your time to head on down to the docks and see these amazing floating hotels. In keeping with the navel theme, the National Maritime Center is a great place to learn more about the ocean.
If youve had enough of the deep blue make your way to the impressive Chrysler Museum. Walter P. Chrysler founded this place so you wont find any automobile history here. But you will find over 30,000 impressive art pieces. This museum is an absolute must for any art history fans. Enjoy some of Norfolks beauty at its Botanical Gardens. Spanning over 155 acres youll find yourself immersed in azaleas. If you can, try to come in April when you can take part of the festivities during the annual Azalea Festival.
