The 615-room Marriott Crystal Gateway is a full-service luxury hotel across the Potomac River from Washington DC providing affordable accommodation for both the business traveler and those here to discover the sights of the nation’s capital. The 18-story, non-smoking property is close to the stylish shops and fine restaurants at the Crystal City shopping complex and The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. The hotel has 25 meeting rooms for business or social functions. The largest, the Arlington Ballroom, can accommodate 2,100 guests. The hotel is one mile from Reagan National Airport, a short commute to downtown Washington via the city’s Metro system, and close to the Arlington National Cemetery, Kennedy Center and the Pentagon.

This Marriott gets great reviews from former clients who were impressed with the location, close to the airport and with a Metro station that could be accessed from the hotel lobby. Those who stayed here also commended the clean, comfortable rooms and friendly and efficient employees. Clients who had spent time surfing for lower rates were delighted with the price they paid. There were complaints about the $9.95 charge for Internet access. There was a computer and printer available in the lobby available for printing out boarding passes at no charge. Marriott Crystal Gateway Accommodations

All the guestrooms, and 82 suites, have a work desk with high-speed Internet access, Internet browser television with cable movie and news channels, pay-per-view movies, alarm clock, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and two-line telephone with voicemail and speakerphone. Guests on the concierge levels have the added benefit of a continental breakfast, evening hors d'oeuvres and all-day beverages served in the concierge lounge.

The hotel has an indoor-outdoor connecting swimming pool, whirlpool and fitness center. The Restaurant Mez is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Atrium Restaurant serves dinner. There is a tapas bar serving wines and evening meals. Room service operates from 6am until midnight. Nearby places to eat include the Hamburger Hamlet, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Portofino’s. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and can arrange for babysitters. Other amenities include a concierge desk, an ATM, coin-operated laundry, full service business center with secretarial and translation services, valet dry-cleaning, vending machines and a gift shop and newsstand.

From New York: Take I-95 to I-495/I-95 S towards Richmond until you cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Take second Exit Rte 1 North. Follow Rte 1 to 20th Street. Turn left, go to first light and turn right on South Eads. Hotel is 1.5 blocks on the right. From Richmond: Take 395 North to Exit 8C, Crystal City. Left onto Army Navy Drive. Right on South Eads. The hotel is three blocks on the left.
