Arlington is known as the Neighbor to the Nation's Capital. Centrally located just across the Potomac River, it’s only a stones throw away from Washington, D.C. It’s a wonderful place to visit, especially if you’re interested in a little shopping and exploring its historic sites.
Home to the popular Fashion Center Mall at Pentagon City, you can explore all 170 stores and boutiques. There’s also the Potomac Mills outlet, another shopper’s heaven to find a great deal. Arlington is home to a lively nightlife and has great restaurants for you to enjoy a dining experience.
But Arlington is also home to some very famous attractions. Take a tour of the Pentagon, one of the world's largest office buildings, and headquarters of the Department of Defense. Walk through the Arlington National Cemetery, home of the landmark Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, visit the gravesites of President John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy Onassis or the new Women In Military Service for America Memorial.
The Fort C.F. Smith Park is a fantastic 19 acre site, which includes a great view of Washington, DC. Another museum worth spending some time at is the Newseum. It features the history of journalism and displays the front pages of daily newspapers from 50 states and around the world as well as video playbacks of historic news broadcasts.
Although it’s so close to the Nation’s capitol, Arlington is a fantastic place to visit all on its own. Come experience it for yourself.
