The hotel was very clean. The rooms were a bit small but being a refurbished jail-I think they made the best of the space they had. The only disappointment was that it wasn't closer to the Riverwalk or Alamo, seeing how both are in the hotel name. Service was excellant!

Well done renovation to a new hotel. Room had great beds, huge bathroom, refrigerator, microwave etc... room was very spacious with two queens in it.

This hotel was great. The old historic building is really neat to look. Rooms were very clean and nice. Customer Service was great! Very friendly and helpful with directions. We stayed here for a BMT graduation. Short drive from the airport and to Lackland, very easy to find. Very convenient to the Riverwalk only about 5 minutes. Parking was not great, but I didnt even have to pay to park across the street. Maybe because we prepaid? Overall, I think this was a great choice and would stay there agian.

This building was a former prison, but you can't tell once your inside. There are still bars on the windows. The rooms are decorated beautifully. The lobby and breakfast area are clean and inviting.
Nice Hotel - posted on 01/24/2007
Overall this hotel was nice and clean. A good place to stay near the riverwalk esp if you are on a budget. It took about 5 minutes from the hotel to get to the riverwalk. The only downfall is that you have to pay 16 to park in the hotel parking lot or pay 6 to park in a lot across the street. The building is interesting, it is in a old jail from the early 1900s. The building was remodeled extensively. I loved the bathrooms, with beautiful granite countertops on the sinks and granite floors.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel very much, and found it very convenient to all the attractions, without having to stay right at the Riverwalk.

The hotel was very quiet and peaceful. we checked in with no problem. we checked out with no problem. the staff was very polite and friendly, but the reserved parking was a bad thing. they have about 10 reserved spaces, and it's a very tight place to park. we were in space #1 all the way at the end, and two big ford f250 we parked next to us, let just say we were late to dinner trying get get our car out of our parking spot. that's my only complaint about this hotel. Everything else was GREAT!

Alot of front steps inconvenient if carrying luggage. Parking 1/2 block away and costs $6 to park car. Old historic jail building has great location in downtown area. Won't stay there again.

Location not far from main attractions. The fees and taxes add over $100 to the room fee. One day they were very late cleaning my room. The breakfast is very Limited. Very Clean Rooms

Great hotel with public transport (historical streetcar) just around the corner.
Nice and Comfortable - posted on 08/29/2006
The hotel is beautiful and has been updated throughout. It is convenient. The hot water was iffy, the parking costs an extra $16/day, and the equipment in the workout room was awful.

Brand new hotel. Interesting history. Very nice rooms with micro and refrig! Walking distance to River Walk and a/c public transportation is steps away. Friendly and courteous staff. Only unpleasant surprise was parking and that it is a little hard to find. Parking is $16/day on site (with less than 10 spaces) or $6 a block away. No mention of that anywhere. All in all though, a very pleasant experience. A bargain compared to the rates on the Walk itself.

The hotel is located real close the the market square and about 6 blocks from the Alamo area. Over all it was a nice hotel but the bathroom was not as clean as you might want it. The parking was about a half block away in a parking lot that was not very secure.

The Hotel is Beautiful, The marble is in excellent repair, the bathrooms are large, and in better standing than most Luxury Hotels. It is a historic location and well worth the stay!
Above average - posted on 10/30/2005
This hotel is about a 6 block walk to the Alamo, but is not a safe walk at night. In the daytime walking is fine. Continental breakfast is average to above average. Staff is very nice. Building is very nicely renovated from old county jail so has interesting pictures and articles on display.

Excellent new hotel located close to the riverwalk. Our room had refrigerator, microwave, marble sink and floor in the bathroom, high ceilings. Nice continental breakfast but pool area is small. There is no parking except in pay lots next to the hotel for $6 per day. I do not think this hotel is a reasonable walking ditsance to the riverwalk, especially at night for security concerns. However, a cab ride will only cost about $3.50 to anywhere you want to go downtown. Overall: Nice hotel for the price. I would definately stay again.
