Better than expected - posted on 05/30/2007
After reading some other reviews about this hotel, I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and very nice. We enjoyed our stay and we were within walking distance of the Rivercenter Mall.
Not As Bad As Some Reviews Suggest - posted on 05/03/2007
This is a no frills hotel with just the basics. There was no hair dryer or iron/ironing board in our room. However, the room was clean with new carpet. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, as was the maid. The hallways were a little dirty. Excellent location with a trolly stop just out the front door, low rates, plus free parking makes this hotel a big plus for downtown SA. Will definitely stay here again.

Staff very pleasant, rooms are average....you get what you pay for....most in the area are 2 times what you pay here...very close to Riverwalk, Mall, Alamodome, Tower, etc...
Unhappy - posted on 01/15/2007
I was displeased with this hotel the moment I got there. We arrived at 3pm, after a long trip from Wisconsin. Our check-in time was 3pm and we were unable to get into our room until 4:30pm. When asked how they were going to compensate us, the staff simply said, we had a busy night and it's not our fault that we haven't gotten all the rooms cleaned yet. That is totally unacceptable to me! If they knew they were going to be busy, they should've had sense to have enough staff on hand!!

Nice high ceilings and nice showers. The tv had blown speakers though and no a/v connections for games. Also having no refrigerator or microwave didn't give much options beside eatting out.
Location, Location - posted on 12/04/2006
Decent price for location, if you're looking for economy. One elevator had 4th floor button stuck, so our 5th floor room had an extra stop every trip. Mentioned to staff and accept that evevator repairs are not easily handled, but not even a "Sorry" note on elevator for 2 day stay. Had to repair sink trap myself, to get it to drain. Plan on eating Cont. breakfast to go or in room- only 2 small tables in smallest breakfast area I have ever seen.
Bargain - posted on 11/18/2006
Although you get what you pay for, this place has an excellent location, the rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable. Breakfast is all carbs, but nice to have something. A little noisy at night with traffic from I-35 and train whistles but didn't keep me up. Everything worked. Easy in and out, close to the airport. Walking distance to everything. I would be a little cautious walking as a woman alone after midnight back to the hotel, but with one or two others I think no problem.
Needs REDONE - posted on 10/16/2006
I would not stay here again. This was the next to the highest priced offered and it was in an area where there are transients sitting around, near an unlighted parking area, and it is old, dated, and stained. The break room was not maintained and there was often dried food and coffee in it. No blow dryer, minimum amenities. I would not stay again or recommend.
Unclean Room - posted on 10/12/2006
There was food left in the refrigerator. And we were promised 2 free days because of this, and have not recieved the promised coupons as of yet.

The rooms are very plain but it was safe and cool. The pool was not clean. The breakfast is very simple with coffee, juice, muffins and granola bars. It was a very pleasant experience staying there. The hotel is close to the river and the alamodome. There is free garage parking for hotel occupants.
Please Clean the Carpets - posted on 08/09/2006
The room was very stuffy. Luckily we brought our own large can of Lysol to spray everything down. The carpets were filthy and I do not even want to think about what could have been that brownish-greenish spot that was smeared on the bathroom wall near the toilet. Luckily we only had to stay there 2 nights. Next time I will reserve a room far enough in advance, so that we can stay somewhere nicer before all of the rooms are booked.

Check-in folks great. Room not as requested (2 doub/ not 1 king) BUT gave pass for future stay w/o hassell. A/C out in other rooms. Ours great.
3 star ? - posted on 06/21/2006
This hotel was rated as a 3 star hotel - so I thought it would be a little more than just a room with a bed & tv. There was nothing more than that, no iron, no coffee pot, no blow dryer, not even a do not disturb sign for the door. I was disappointed.
Wonderful Place - posted on 06/03/2006
Great price, wonderful accomodations...within three blocks of the Riverwalk and Alamo.
Not bad - posted on 05/16/2006
The dining area leaves a lot to be desired, and the surrounding buildings that are empty and abandoned should be cleaned up. Other then that, the hotel was not too bad.
Good stay review - posted on 04/24/2006
Location of hotel was great, right off freeway and close to Riverwalk. Clean and nice staff. Very plain - no extras.

Overall the hotel was very clean. Not much noise at night. Very close to downtown.
Great Stay - posted on 03/27/2006
This is an older hotel, room was large, overlooked downtown, clean, 1sr room that had bright enough light to see self in mirror, great shower, staff friendly/helpful, Trolly to Riverwalk is 80 cents and for $1.60 we got a narrative tour of the city.....cool. Breakfast area extremely small but somehow it works?? They have cappacinno. It could be totally rennovated but then the price would go Way UP This is a good deal.

Decent hotel for the price. I would stay there again.
Dec Visit - posted on 12/23/2005
The rooms were okay...they needed blow dryers....coffee makers...a little frig, etc. Close to the River Walk was great!!!
Poor breakfast - posted on 10/31/2005
The motel room was in good shape and the stay, overall, enjoyable. Continental breakfast, however, left a lot to be desired. Stale bagels, short supply of juice and little else. Not good.
Good Location. - posted on 09/15/2005
I really liked the location, even though you do have to walk under an overpass. Just a couple of blocks from the Riverwalk, Alamo, and the mall. Good deal in regards to the location and price. Rooms were nice. And enjoyed the covered parking and swimming pool. Contenental Breakfast, was lacking. Only packaged bagels and muffins. Would not let guests use the ice machine for coolers.
We were not impressed - posted on 09/09/2005
We booked this hotel from the internet for our short honeymoon. We were very disappointed. The rooms were small and felt dirty. The bathtubs need to be replaced. Once you leave the lobby, the place has a very musty/dirty odor. The carpets are pitiful. This hotel is way over priced and we were way disappointed. We will not stay here again.
Not Clean - posted on 09/02/2005
The bathroom and carpet were not very clean. It lists amenities they do not have. The only good thing was the free parking. Continental breakfast was a huge dissapointment! I almost forgot, there were bums in the parking lot begging for money both days we were there. Yuk!
Great place and cheap - posted on 08/29/2005
This is a great place to stay in my opinion. We found this place 3 years ago and return every year. It's a short walk to the Riverwalk and it's on the trolley line which makes it real convenient. They are in the process of improvements and I believe put tile in the rooms but where tile meets carpet there were nails sticking up. Ouch!!! Don't want a tetanus shot when you get home! But otherwise it's great. Staff friendly and accomodating
Great place to stay - posted on 08/28/2005
We wanted something close to downtown so we could walk everywhere. The trolley stop was right outside our door so we enjoyed that as well. The pool was clean, service was great and the room was really nice. We weren't looking for luxury because we spent most of our time elsewhere. The light breakfasst was appreciated as well.
Less than expected - posted on 08/10/2005
We stayed at this hotel because it is downtown. The outside of the building and lobby area look ok, but once you step into the elvator, it all goes down hill. Needs major updating! Carpet was horrible and could the place could use a paint job. Bathrooms were bad, tub did not drain well. I would have rather stayed in a nicer hotel a little further out than to stay here. We were not able to sleep because all night long people were yelling and slamming doors, electricty went out and our phone rang without reason in the middle of the night (twice).
Great hotel, but beware if traveling with baby - posted on 08/08/2005
The hotel was very nice and in a great location. My problem was I was told a crib would be in the room when i got there, it wasn't and they didn't have any to give me. They shouldn't have guaranteed me one if they didn't have one. I would have brought my own. They told me they only had one and it was first come first serve. They could have told me that when I called. It was a long night with my 1 year old.
Extremely Dissapointed - posted on 08/02/2005
This hotel needs A LOT of work! The elevators were disgusting, ice machines were either missing or out of order (tried 3 floors!), wall paper peeling off the walls, burn holes in chairs in our room, carpets were filthy, only 1 wash cloth, tiny tv, a lamp shade as a chandelier, very noisy rooms, contiental breakfast consisted of fruit and muffins. Will not stay here again. The free parking is not worth it.
Great Hotel - posted on 07/31/2005
The hotel was very clean and also had great customer service. I like it also because it was very close to the riverwalk and we could just walk two blocks instead of driving and paying for a parking spot.
Won't Stay Here Again - posted on 07/28/2005
Upon arrival, we had to wait about 20 minutes for the employee at the front desk to finish her personal phone calls before she would check us in. When we got to the room, I was looking for an electrical outlet and saw a dirty, used Q-tip behind the bedside table. They definately need to work on cleanliness in the rooms. I tried twice to take a shower, but there was never any hot water and I ended up taking cold sponge baths. The only good thing I can say about my stay at this hotel is that the bed was comfortable. When I visit San Antonio again, I will not be staying here.

I stay often at the RRI, SA - DWNTWN. It is a great value and convenient to concert, sports, and cultural venues.
