A Secret Little Gem - posted on 04/24/2007

Hotel Icon saved me from driving from Dallas to New Orleans overnight. I was completely lost and the receptionist was more than happy to stay on the phone with me until I arrived. They treated me like royalty my entire visit. I will only stay at Icon when I'm in Houston from now on.

a real Icon - posted on 11/06/2006

What an unexpectedly gorgeous hotel in a super convenient location in downtown Houston. I booked it because it was inexpensive compared to other hotels downtown. Wow, did I score! If you love restored old buildings, this is the place. Classic elegance yet hip and trendy.

Great Hotel - posted on 08/21/2005

I loved this hotel. It has been beautifully decorated throughout. I think the hotel rooms are absolutely beautiful. It has a great location downtown, and I am looking forward to going back. We were not there long enough to rate the service. The only negative for me was that the music was a little loud in the lounge.

Comfortably opulent and tasteful - posted on 05/25/2005

The San Francisco design firm that restored this building did a fantastic job. You don't find many old, well restored buildings in Houston, and the ICON should be commended. Rooms are top notch, and the service I received was fine. Hotel guests shouldn't have to compete with hordes of weekend bar hoppers when they need a valet to bring a car around. Totally absurd policies about the minifridge: if you even touch or move anything, you bought it at an exorbitant price. I had to complain to get $70 taken off my bill for things I hadn't even consumed. I'd go back though.

The service was excellent. The location was great for hopping on the train. Walking distance to Minute Maid park.

No Thank You! - posted on 10/10/2004

Worst experience at a 4-5 star hotel. Rude hotel personnel & bad customer service and amenities promised were not done at the time they were supposed to be done! Ridiculous! Beautiful rooms. Dirty bathrooms downstairs near the lobby!

A GREAT EXPERIENCE - posted on 09/27/2004

I can't say enough nice things about this hotel. The rooms are well appointed and flawlessly clean. The location was equally appealing. If you like the nightlife, this is the place to be. Great restaurant and jazz clubs within walking distance.
