My family and I had a great 3 day stay at the Omni, and we plan on returning very soon.
Nice hotel in downtown Houston - posted on 01/01/2007
Overall positive experience. Only had one problem w.r.t. two separate beds vs. one bed, and they insisted it was my mistake (it wasn't). I think they should have given me the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise, everything has been great. Rooms are adequate, and have wifi. Also, there are computers in the lobby. General atmosphere in the hotel is good. Location is right in the heart of downtown. Regarding other comment about homeless closeby, that's unfortunately downtown Houston for you. Hotel is within a short walk from lots of nighttime entertainment.

They've corrected past problems. - posted on 07/08/2006
Our stay was wonderful; room clean and modern; staff friendly and helpful. Difficulty in finding worth it--like an oasis in middle of metropolitan city. I've stayed in hotels all over the world, and the Omni Houston deserves 4-star rating. Parking rate is reasonable compared to other large cities.

We looked for 1 hour to find the place. The rooms where outdated. Floor was nasty. They tell you there is free parking which is about a good 10 minute walk if you don't have any luggage. If you want to park in their self park garage that's $9 or have valet do it for you for $18.

The Omni is a pleasant stay, definitely lives up to its 5 Diamond Rating. The only problem is its a bit hard to find if you don't know where you're going.
A flawed gem - posted on 07/30/2005
This is one of AAA's 5 diamond hotels. I expected near perfection, but was totally disappointed. The 3 diamond Hampton in DC was far superior. My expectations for a luxury hotel include the rooms...my sink was cracked, as was the cup I received my morning coffee in, the ironing board was broken, and I had to iron on the floor, the shower grout was dirty, and the security was questionable. All you had to do to enter was push a button. I expected luxury, I received "basic."

very nice hotel, location is not good since there is nothing close by, rooms good
omni: first class - posted on 01/11/2005
Staff, rooms, restaurant, spa all top of the line, very classy...great for relaxing. Only one change is that the downstairs additional bar which is a first class needs to be open every day, not just weekends.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted immediately at the door by valet attendants, bellmen, and doormen. The front desk staff was just rushing us through our check-in and not very friendly. When I asked for a room with two double beds or a roll away bed (for my 3yr old), my request could not be fulfilled. The lobby is very elegant and we were expecting the same in our room. It was disappointing to find outdated accomodations. This hotel is not worth the money.
