El Paso is rich in history. The famous Mission Trail dates back over 400 years. Along this stretch youll find quaint shops and places to enjoy a great Tex-Mex meal all nearby. But this trail has been preserved for the missions at Ysleta, Socorro, and San Elizario. At the corner of Zaragosa Road and Alameda Street stands the Ysleta Mission. Its the oldest in Texas as well as the oldest church in continuous use, in the Nation, dating back to 1682. The Socorro Mission is also one of the oldest operating parishes in the United States. The San Elizario was built in 1789 as a Spanish military fort. The chapel was built in 1877 and is still in use today. Each missions beautiful architecture tells its fascinating history.
El Paso has some breathtaking scenery. Take a ride along Scenic Drive and see its natural beauty or visit Ranger Peak in El Pasos Franklin Mountains. Youll get a perfect view of the city below as well as the Hueco Mountains, New Mexico's White Sands and Mexico.
