Customer Reviews for Woodward Hotel and Conference Center

Rude staff, Bad Meeting Service - posted on 04/23/2007

Some rooms outdated, some cheaply remodeled/unattractive. Strong fumes from pool reconstruction. Rude, unknowledgable front desk staff. Room service took 48 rings to answer. Wireless internet non-functioning for most, sporadic for few. Meeting catering AWFUL!!! - 80 muffins for 120 people and 40 cup coffee urn, ran out of cups, fruit way past prime, didn't clear dirty dishes from meeting rooms, but still disrupted meeting walking through. Kitchen door opened off front of meeting room?! $169 for 3 full meals, two dry pastry breakfasts, and 2 cookie/soda breaks?

Garden Hotel equates to Dirt - posted on 04/19/2007

Not at all the quality or level we expect from Wyndham. Do NOT stay at this hotel! According to reviews, the hotel underwent renovation in April 2006. It's a year later and the hotel has holes in the walls, pool was under re-construction, loose floor boards in the lobby, dirty and old elevators. Wireless internet signal strength was very low to none. Do NOT pay for this hotel.

Renovation Time - posted on 03/15/2007

The 'suite' rooms were in sorry need of renovation and repair. Leaky faucets, poor plumbing, overly worn kitchen area. Linens and towels were clean. The price was a little steep for the quality of rooms and location out of downtown. TAXI to downtown - $10-$12 After complaining to management, the rooms in the 'tower' are supposed to be already renovated.

bad experience from the checkin - posted on 02/26/2007

We arrived to a hotel that was under construction. We went to check in and the room I had reserved was no longer available. They told me I was getting a remodeled room that I reserved, they gave me a room that hadn't been remodeled. I was lied to. Not only was the room not the one I reserved, but it also had horrible plumbing problems. There was not pressure in the faucet and you couldn't flush the toilet more than once in a row. Overall I was disatisfied with this hotel and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

disappointing - posted on 01/17/2007

I was a little disappointed in the hotel I stayed at. I did not know that the hotel was under renovation. I felt like I was in a construction zone. If my stay was longer I would have changed hotels. I could not find the hotel name in the airport map since it was named Wyndham Garden but the hotel had a different name, and was stuck at the airport for 2 hours after landing in Austin at 1a.m. I would not referr anybody to stay there until the hotel construction is done.

Room Was Outstanding - posted on 12/22/2006

Impressive room. Comfortable bed with clean white duvet. Bathroom had plenty of counterspace, granite everywhere. Main room has one long counter with everything built-in. Nice desk chair and leather recliner that went all the way back. Table on wheels was handy for room service. Restaurant was closed. They said we could eat in the bar, but it looked dumpy, so we ordered room service. Food was fine, but didn't agree with the service charge because the restaurant was closed. They took it off the bill. We'll definitely stay here again. The location is great as well as the room.

Woodward Hotel - posted on 12/02/2006

Hotel is being renovated outside and on the first floor. Had jack hammer going on at elevator entrance. If I had known this I would have stayed at a crack house instead.

Very sub-standard!! - posted on 04/24/2006

The hotel was undergoing construction. The front desk staff were very non-challant of incoming guests. On check-out day, even though i had called downstairs for a late-checkout by an hour, I had the same person knocking on my door 2-3 separate times and then apologizing that no one had told her about it. The carpets were dirty and no air conditioning in the hall ways.

Much Improved - posted on 04/16/2006

Stayed here under the previous ownership and I can see the improvements. I came for business, but stayed an extra night to hear the Colombian Salsa Band. The hotel was clean, my room was taken care of to my expectation and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Decent Place - posted on 04/05/2006

Not a bad choice. They are in the process of remodeling so perhaps it will be a gem in the future. Keep in mind it used to be the Holiday Inn and you a bit of a drive to downtown. However, the pool area was nice and the service people were extremely nice/helpful. And the bar had two dollar beers, very nice indeed. The food was average in the resturant. Not too sad, just hated having to drive or cab it from the Hotel. But, I believe the price for the hotel was a fair deal.

Do NOT stay at this hotel. - posted on 03/29/2006

The hotel is filthy. We moved to two rooms, both were awful. It is described as pet friendly, but you cannot stay in the remodeled section if you have a pet!

It's a lot cheaper to book on-line than to drop in and get a room. Bed was super comfortable, the room was a nice size and clean. Most of staff was very friendly.
