A statue of Dolly Parton, sculpted by local artist Jim Gray, decorates the lawn of Sevierville's courthouse, and the country music icon herself unveiled the statue in 1987. In 1986, she opened her Dollywood entertainment park in neighboring Pigeon Forge. She comes home each April for the park's seasonal Grand Opening and makes several other appearances in the area during the year. Many of Dolly's family members still live in the Sevierville area, and several of them, including brother Randy, perform regularly at Dollywood.
Sevierville is home to a selection of excellent golf courses and is conveniently located near other top rated courses in the Great Smoky Mountains. Seviervilles newest course, a resort golf course at Eagles Landing is set to open in spring 2008 alongside the award-winning championship course which has been there since 1994.

The City of Sevierville has now officially opened two new roads and added a new lane on SR 66 and the Parkway through downtown Sevierville to ease traffic congestion for visitors coming to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains.

A brand new, environmentally friendly trolley service is now running through Sevierville, making it easier for visitors to move from place to place. Seviervilles new fleet of electric-propane hybrid trolleys move guests from nearby Pigeon Forge to Sevierville with stops at popular destinations such as Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Center, The Apple Barn, NASCAR SpeedPark and the Governors Crossing Complex with numerous shops, restaurants and attractions. The trolleys even take guests into historic downtown Sevierville for fine dining and boutique shopping. As an added convenience, trolley stops, which are currently under construction, will be outfitted with video screens and GPS tracking software in order to show waiting riders exactly where the next trolley is located and give an accurate trolley arrival time. Trolley fare is $0.50 per person and the service is available Mar. Dec. 8:30am-Midnight seven days per week.
Sevierville is named for John Sevier, one of the leading figures in the history of Tennessee. Sevier was a frontiersman, soldier, war hero and politician who served under George Washington in the American Revolution and distinguished himself at the battle of Kings Mountain. When the State of Tennessee was formed in 1796, Sevier became its first governor.
