Chattanooga has worked hard over the past few years to create an amazing and environmentally friendly city. The urban redevelopment has put new life into the downtown area, filling it with fantastic shops, restaurants and places to stay. The riverfront also got a facelift and provides stunning views of the city. Known to put its citizens first, Chattanooga also provides a free electric shuttle service for the downtown area. So youll have no excuse not to see everything that it has to offer. And although the downtown is buzzing with activity and places to explore there is so much more for you to see.
The Chattanooga's Tennessee Aquarium is the world's largest freshwater aquarium. Learn about the waters of Africa, South America, Siberia and Asia and the 900 animals that call this home. Youll stand in awe at the 60-foot canyon as well as the two forests. This definitely isnt your typical aquarium.
What Chattanooga is probably best known for is Lookout Mountain. Its an ideal place to experience the many wonders available for you to explore. The first is Rock City. But one of the best views is Lovers Leap, where on a clear day you can see seven states. The second is Ruby Falls. Almost as old as Rock City, it opened in 1929. This 145-foot underground waterfall was discovered by accident. But ever since its provided a fantastic show for all who come. Lastly, the Incline Railway will take you on "America's Most Amazing Mile" which has delighted guests for more than a century.
There are many trails for the hiking and biking enthusiasts. The flora and beautiful scenery will encourage you to go a bit further every time. A definite sight to see is the part of the 2,175-mile Appalachian National Scenic Trail that runs through Tennessee.
