South Dakota is an amazing place to explore, especially if you love the great outdoors. The sheer number of activities you can enjoy are staggering. However, South Dakota also has a wonderful array of beautiful architecture, places to try out your luck and of course the famous Black Hills.
Spending time enjoying the beautiful nature that flourishes in South Dakota is as easy as baiting a hook. The lakes are teemed with fish and are the perfect place to go boating and canoeing. Land lovers can go hiking and biking on the many trails and then there are the mountains. During the summer months you’ll be challenged as you try to make your way to the top and during the winter months you’ll be challenged as you try to make your way to the bottom.
History enthusiasts will find many wonderful buildings. One of the very best though is the Adams House. It’s a restored Victorian style home that does an amazing job of what life was like in the late 1800s. South Dakota’s Capitol building, which was built in 1905, is another great architectural site to see.
The Black Hills are probably the biggest drawing card for visitors coming to South Dakota. There are great paths to challenge even the most athletic persons and rock climbing locations to test your skills. The scenery in it of itself is worth exploring but it is the larger than life faces of four presidents found on Mount Rushmore that has attracted thousands of visitors every year.
Although Wild Bill Hickok no longer roams the streets of South Dakota, the Wild West continues to live on. There are many fantastic watering holes to quench your thirst and casinos for you to try out your luck. Visit Kevin Costner’s Midnight Star and the legendary Saloon #10 and maybe you’ll come away with a few gold nuggets of your own.
