worst ever!!! - posted on 04/03/2007
My husband and I traveled to Myrtle Beach and stayed at the Crown Reef. When we got to our room, there was a pigeon family that had nested outside the door (eggs in nest and all) There was pigeon poo all over the place. The staff gave us another room. When we got to that room I was shocked at how dirty it was. Stained carpets, broken curtain rods, cigarette burn marks, dirt on the tile, not to mention the mildew stench. Needless to say we checked out immediately. We ended up finding a much nicer place in N. Myrtle for the same price.

would stay again - posted on 01/23/2007
The hotel is older as most along the beach are. Elevators were broken alot of the time. Staff was very friendly. View was great and it is a great family place. Would stay again.

Loved the FREE broadband wireless internet access. Elevators were scary. I was frustrated that I had to walk across the street to get back and forth from thier convention center.

This place is not worth the money, the place is dirty. In our room door frames were broke, carpet stayed wet, tub was busted, shower curtain rod was rusted, dresser was busted. Elevators take all day and are dirty. The only decent thing here is the pools, kids loved them. Use caution. Will never stay here again.
Crown Reef Resort, SC - Cons/Pros - posted on 07/22/2006
No attention to detail - front door had been kicked open a few times , handle for our sliding door was missing the top screw. Elevator situation was awful - wait could be 10-15 minutes . In their heat they should have fans or clean the elevators. Even returning guests made comment. Laundry room was not adequate for the guests, parking garage is not made for trucks / vans. Plus, before I traveled to Mrytle beach I had emailed the resort. To date no one has responded to that email. I would have to say; I don't think I would stay at the Crown Reef resort again :(

We made our reservation at the last min. and got the highest rate for the room. Rooms we OK but nothing fancy. If you want a lounge chair at the pool, better go down about 7 am. Signs posted "Do not save chairs with towels" but when we looked down at pool by 8, every chair had a towel on it and very few people around. Elevators smelled. We flew in and did not rent a car. Relied on the bus. Sometimes very slow. Took bus to "Broadway at the Beach". Plan on spending a day their. Staff friendly and Helpful.

Very disappointed with stay. Housekeeping did not show up to clean room until around 3-4pm each day and still did not do an adequate job. The elevators was very unreliable and dirty. The room was ok though just everything else needs improvements. Would not stay there again.

Great Time! - posted on 03/15/2005
My overall stay was wonderful! I thought the staff was GREAT! The only thing that I think needed attention would be the Hallways- Vacuumed. The hallways are all high traffic areas and need someone to stay ontop of this! Overall all was WONDERFUL and will return!
Not bad if you get a special price - posted on 01/22/2005
it's a good place to stay. Spacious rooms, great pools, close to ocean, inexpensive breakfast and lunch and it's at the end of South Myrtle (away from the crowd). Service is fine.
needs a facelift - posted on 01/14/2005
Outside is gorgeous! We pulled up and thought we were staying at a fancy place. Wrong! The room and kitchenette was very dated but large. There were 2 tvs but only one worked . We called and a guy came up and turned it on and turned it off and said it seemed to work! The 3 elevators never worked at the same time the whole time we were there. We were forced to walk up 5 flights every time we went to the room or we waited at least 20 minutes for one. Great pool and lazy river, but needs more maintainence. Pray for good weather so you won't need to be in the room. Great town!
