A former cotton factory and English coaching inn built in 1842 the 19-room Anchorage Inn Charleston is reminiscent of the city’s glory days with attention to detail. Guests are treated like royalty, surrounded by period furnishings and decor. A 4pm wine and cheese social encourages mingling with other guests before strolling to dinner at one of the famed restaurants nearby. Located in the French Quarter, it’s a short walk to Charleston Harbor, Waterfront Park’s pier and pineapple fountain, art galleries, Old City Market and King Street shopping Mecca. Sherry nightcaps are offered from 8pm-11pm.

All rooms are comfortable, clean, air-conditioned and nicely furnished with dark wood. Private baths are stocked with toiletries. They also have TV (cable/satellite), telephone and daily maid service. Some rooms have no windows, but the inn’s locale and amenities more than make up for this—after all, you’re in Charleston!
