As we checked in, they offered a glass of champagne to welcome us. Happy hour was in progress which included wine, cheese and grapes. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The hotel offers a continental breakfast and we were told that we could ask for a tray to be delivered to us in the morning at whatever time we chose if we didn't want to go down to the lobby. The entire staff is friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the French Quarter Inn.
Absolutely Beautiful - posted on 03/01/2007
I was very impressed with the hotel and staff. The only downside was that while I booked it through a booking agent, I was quoted a very different price and when I checked out, I was told it was a much higher rate. I ended up paying it but was a little upset that the hotel and booking agent did not communicate as well as one would hope.

A very beautiful hotel in the heart of Charleston. You can walk everywhere from here. The room was great and the bathroom was to die for. The wine and cheese at night was great too. Very friendly staff and the concerige service was fantastic ask them for anything! And the best part was choosing which pillow to sleep on from their pillow menu. I would stay again!

I cannot say enough about the French Quarter Inn. The location was perfect, the service was amazing, and the room was clean and oversized. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Charleston.

My wife and I stayed here on our first visit to Charleston and absolutely loved it. Frindliest hotel staff ever, great location (you can walk everywhere) and beautiful decor. Especially loved the wine reception every afternoon! This was our 25th wedding anniversary, and the hotel helped make it memorable.

A very nice hotel - posted on 01/05/2006
The hotel itself was perfectly kept and the service was great. Beautiful interior to the hotel. It is in the heart of everything, can walk everywhere you want to go. Only downsides were that the free breakfasts did not offer much variety and you are forced to use valet parking (at an additional fee) when all they do is park your car in a small lot right behind the building. The parking isn't a deal breaker, but I don't see a need to pay extra for that.
Better than expected - posted on 11/28/2005
This was our first stay at The French Quarter Inn as the hotel we usually stay at in Charleston was booked. But, it won't be our last we loved the location, service, and size of the hotel approx. 50 rooms. The morning breakfast and afternoon wine tasting we very nice. The food in Tristans Restaurant downstairs was great! A great value!
Great Choice - posted on 11/14/2005
We found this a very well run hotel with excellent, friendly service. The room was very nice and the extras of breakfast, wine&cheese, milk&cookies were all welcome. There seemeed to be an abnormally high ratio of staff to guests and the staff were generally helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel is in a great location, next to the market, nearby interesting shops and close to some of the best restuarants. They helped to make our first extended visit to Charleston memorable.
Not enough for the money. - posted on 10/31/2005
Our room was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect in the historic district, close to everything. We did not feel it was worthy of a 4 diamond rating due to the lack of amenities and services. There was no concierge and the complimentary breakfast was not up to par with many economy hotels. Parking was added to an already expensive room, and although we had a nice stay, we did not feel it was a good value at our room rate. There are better values for similar hotels in historic downtown Charleston.

The French Quarter Inn is a beautiful hotel. It is located next door to the basket market, and is within walking distance to many sites and nice restaurants. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, spacious, comfortable, and relaxing. There are a wide variety of pillows that you can order from the pillow concierge that will make your stay all the more comfortable. The Frech Quarter Inn has friendly and helpful staff and an exelent restaurant downstairs.

We had high expectations when we booked at the FQ Inn and those expectations were exceeded. Of note, coffee service, free Cont. breakfast room service, Champagne & Wine, Pillows, Service and location.
Simply the Best! - posted on 07/29/2005
This was our first visit to Charleston and I had no idea about the location of any hotels. I was intrigued by the character of the hotel. The location seemed right too. We were not disappointed in any aspect. The room was exceptionally clean - and decor was fantastic. The location allowed us to walk to numerous great restaurants, the outdoor market area, shopping and historical monuments. We loved the personal touches, wine and cheese at 5, cookies and milk at 9 - fresh iced tea, lemonade and coffee at all hours. The staff was also fantastic. I can't wait to visit again!
pillow talk - posted on 07/26/2005
The hotel boost that they have 7 different types of pillows to select from. We checked in at 11AM and called for our pillows(allergies to down) and we called before we went out to dinner and after dinner. Told that they where out of the pillows we needed. The evening cookies where gone at 9:15 PM and personnal told us that they did not wish to start the oven up again so we got Famous Amos Cookies from a bag. Will try something else next year. The location was great but we paid for all of the other amenties too. We told them when we checked out but they didn't seem to care.

We absolutely loved this hotel. From the time you arrive, you receive VIP treatment! From the pillow menu, to the comfortable beds, the spacious room and bathroom, the HUGE balconies, the delicious complimentary continental breakfast, champagne, wine and cheese , all-day coffee service and milk and cookies --to the turndown service each night and our favorite employee, Marvin, we were just delighted! We'll be back asap!
