Located on busy Market Street at Anson Lane in the heart of the historic district, this five-room bed and breakfast offers an intimate retreat with an entrance off a small courtyard garden. It has a quaint European ambiance to it. Its best feature is the location on Market Street, within walking distance to Charleston Harbor and pier, Waterfront Park, art galleries, shopping, dining, museums and attractions. Guests don’t need to drive their car around town as a city trolley ($4 all-day pass) is easy to pick up at many locations.

For some, its location may be too close to Charleston’s noisy late-night crowd and city sounds; for others, it may be perfect. Since the small inn allows pets, guests who do not care for this policy would be better off elsewhere. But the innkeepers are very gracious and hospitable, even offering airport pick-up and drop-off service. Although the inn is in a very convenient location, it may not appeal to guests who prefer to stay a few blocks away in a more secluded and residential section of town. Read our customer reviews?

Market Street Inn Accommodations

All five guest rooms are large, clean and comfortably furnished with lots of pillows, oversized private baths with soft towels, cable TV, telephone, ceiling fans and voicemail. Some rooms have windows overlooking the Old City Market.

Amenities offered

A tasty Continental breakfast of assorted pastries, fresh coffee and juices is served each morning in a common area where guests can meet and chat before venturing out. In the afternoon, a Happy Hour welcomes back exploring visitors to compare notes on their day. The staff will assist with recommendations for dining, but there are many excellent choices within several blocks of the inn.

From Charleston International Airport:
Start out going northeast on South Aviation Ave towards Perimeter Rd.
Take The I-26 E Ramp towards Charleston.
Take I-26 East and exit at East Bay Street.
Go left at stop sign (cross Meeting Street) and follow East Bay (which curves right) two miles to Market St.
Go Right On Market Street, then right at the next street.
The inn is on the right.
