A National Historic Landmark that dates back to 1844, the four-floor, 64-room Planters Inn is listed in the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List for 2007 as one of the world’s best places to stay. Located in the heart of Charleston’s historic district on the north side of the Old City Market, a bustling shopping Mecca, the inn has a reputation for attentive hospitality, outstanding accommodations and impeccable service. Although there are many excellent restaurants within walking distance, the inn’s own Peninsula Grill is rated four stars and is well worth a visit.

This historic inn is an excellent choice for lodging in the downtown area, close to all attractions, easy access to public transportation (the trolleys that go around town are great with three different routes), or just walking about. Planters Inn Accommodations

Guest rooms are elegantly appointed with 19th-century furnishings, 10-foot ceilings, four-poster beds, plush bedding and down pillows. Private baths are well stocked with luxury toiletries and thick towels. Windows overlook the surrounding historic district or the hotel’s lovely garden courtyard where guests can relax in traditional Southern style.

Amenities offered

The inn offers numerous amenities to make a guest feel welcome such as wireless Internet access, a business center and meeting space, secretarial services, event catering and laundry facilities. There are also in-room safes. Other amenities include wedding services, child care, multilingual staff, fitness center, complimentary daily newspaper and in-room massage service. Hotel staff will assist with arranging recreational activities such as golf, fishing, kayaking, miniature golf, bike rentals, boating and racquetball.

From Charleston Regional Airport:
Take International Blvd to I-526 E (toward Mount Pleasant) and to I-26 E to Charleston-travel about 8 miles.
Take the Meeting Street/Visitor's Center exit, turn right (south) and follow Meeting Street about two miles;
turn left at Hayne St, go right at Church St and right again on North Market St (it's one way).
The hotel is almost at the end of the street on the right side.
