Rated as one of the top 20 small hotels in the United States, the John Rutledge House Inn was built in 1763 by a signer of the U.S. Constitution. It consists of a magnificent mansion restored to its original grandeur and two carriage houses completely renovated to accommodate guests in classic elegance from a bygone age. Designated a National Historic Landmark, it offers 19 spacious rooms furnished in antiques and historically accurate reproductions. Architectural features include plaster moldings, marble fireplaces and 14-foot ceilings. George Washington slept here in 1791. Within walking distance is the historic Charleston district.

They offer the epitome of superb comfort and convenience with mini-refrigerator, bottled water, window darkening shades, TV, telephone free local calls and a Tempurpedic mattress on the four-poster, king-size canopy bed. A large, clean bathroom features luxury toiletries and bathrobes.
