comp - posted on 04/27/2007

Nice hotel, plenty of room, very good location. My issue was with the comp drinks. We went to the bar one evening after touring the city. We sat at a table next to the bar and the woman working behind the bar acted as though she never saw us. Finally, after watching her entertain her friends at the bar and stepping outside for a smoke, I went to the bar to order our drinks. Not what I expected of this hotel. Also, the consierge was very helpful and friendly but they did not leave messages for us like they had promised and this happened twice.

all in all good hotel - posted on 03/31/2007

a bit of a walk, but good location for walking to sites, and trolley stop outside. Their were a few glitches in service but I must admit they always smiled and made up for them with a comp drink, breakfast, etc. They seemed to be having housekeeping difficulties, but the rest of the staff was very attentive and helpful. Marion square across the street. Charleston is lovely!

I do not usually stay at Holiday Inns, but after reading the other reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I was well pleased. The staff is friendly, rooms are quiet and spacious and it is convenient to many local attractions.

The approach to the hotel was nice with the flowers outside the entrance. The lobby area was also nice and I loved the buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

My friend & I decided to stay at the Holiday Inn based on the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Hotel was an easy walk to the market, restaurants & water. Room was very clean/comfortable. Concierge was extremely knowledgeable. He recommended a fabulous walking tour. We can easily recommend this hotel to others.

The Holiday Inn Historic District of Charleston is an outstanding hotel. By far the nicest Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. Rooms are larger than usual and clean. The staff is friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome. The hotel is well within reach of all historic sites and restaurants.

WOW! - posted on 12/09/2005

My husband & I would never have imagined staying at a H.I., but given the reviews we chose to give it a chance. It far exceeded our expectations. the Concierge, is OUTSTANDING. He stayed 2.5 hours past his ending time to plan the trip of a lifetime for us. We travel 2-3 times a year and this was the BEST trip we've ever had. Loved that we could walk everywhere in the Historic District and to rent a car. Super comfy beds. Super clean. LOUSY fitness center.

The hotel staff was polite, and somewhat informative. Concierge needs help, hard to get a time to talk to him. Parking at this hotel is plain ridiculous.

#1 Concierge - posted on 08/30/2005

The Holiday Inn has a friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable (temperpedic) beds and the best concierge. His recommendations have always been great and he follows up with you afterwards to get your feedback. I have never seen a concierge that has the dedication and passion for his job.

Great hotel - posted on 08/23/2005

The staff was great; helpful and friendly. The room was super. The pool was a great plus. And the location was within easy reach of all points of interest in the Historic District. But the parking needs work.

Awesome - posted on 08/21/2005

I do a lot of traveling by myself, and have been to MANY hotels. This one beats them all. The room was very spacious, clean, attractive, and the bed was INCREDIBLY comfortable. The staff was very friendly and lent me an ethernet cord even though I could connect wirelessly. I walked everywhere in downtown, and this was just the perfect spot to stay - not right smack in the middle of commotion, but just at the edge where there was still activity. Located right across from a park. Very nice, I'm going to stay there again, definitely.

Our 3 day stay at this hotel was incredible! The location was perfect - the concierge, was phenomenal! Everything he lined up for us was perfect because he first asked what our interests were. Therefore the activities he planned for us, suited us. Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was great! The only drawback is that there was not ample parking for all guests and we were directed to a chuch parking lot across the street and were asked to move by 9AM for church services, but were still charged the $10 parking fee.

Loved It - posted on 08/15/2005

I work for a different hotel chain but stayed here during my visit to Charleston. It was awesome. Very close to everything we waned to experience and everyone including housekeeping was very nice and accomodating. Awful to say but good for them, I will choose them over my hotel chain any day!!! I also loved the lobby bathrooms, they were very elegant and clean!

Nice stay - posted on 08/12/2005

This was the best holiday inn I've stayed in. The lobby staff were polite (but not friendly) The only thing that really needs improvement are the pool hours, they close it by 10 p.m and it's nice to get a swim after the long walk to market street in the evening. Must drive to the battery from this hotel.

This Hotel is Second to NONE!!! - posted on 07/31/2005

This hotel is *incredible*!!! From the rooms, to their concierge who took over an hour to help my best friend and I plan the most outstanding sight seeing tours of Charleston I've ever seen. If that weren't enough, the staff goes out of their way to be accomodating, friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back.

not what it was cracked up to be - posted on 07/20/2005

The hotel was okay, but not as spectacular as the reviews would have you think. The beds were doubles instead of queens; too squishy for 2 adults. The concierge that was supposed to be so fabulous was a little disappointing. He was rather pushy and bordering on obnoxious.

Free parking - posted on 06/19/2005

We enjoyed our stay in the Holiday Inn in Charleston very much; my only complaint is that it was rude that I had to pay extra for parking. I feel the least they could do is provide parking for their guests. This should be included...I have stayed at many Motel/Hotels in my life and have NEVER had to pay extra to park my vehicle. At $10.00 a night this would really add up for a family coming there to visit and with gas prices like they are I feel the Hotel should accomidate their guests with providing parking for free.

Internet Service - posted on 09/14/2004

In today's world to charge $10.00 a day for high speed internet service is not acceptable. This should be at no additional charge. Most travelers only use the internet to check news and e-mail. They don't check in to a hotel in Charleston to spend all day on the internet.
