Built in 1853 by Otis Mills, it has survived natural disasters and come out even more elegant than before. With it’s proximity to the busy business and legal corners of Broad and Meeting Streets, it was the first hotel in Charleston that boasted steam heat and running water. It was the best hotel in the city and has maintained its superior stature in the historic city, complete with architecturally correct workmanship and style. The seven story hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, attractions, historic homes, Charleston Harbor and Waterfront Park.

The Mills House Hotel Accommodations

Each of its 214 rooms and suites are elegantly furnished with reproduction furnishings, oversized beds, luxury linens, cable TV, coffee and tea maker, high speed Internet access, ironing boards, work desk and lamp, private bath, nightly turndown service and free morning newspaper. All rooms are non-smoking.

The hotel features the elegant Barbados Room, open for breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with the adjacent First Shot Lounge. Other amenities include meeting and conference rooms for up to 450 people, business services, fitness center, outdoor pool, courtyard, safe deposit box (front desk), same day dry cleaning, daily housekeeping, concierge services for tours, attractions, and restaurants, as well as a gift shop.

From Charleston International Airport, take International Blvd. to I-526 East (toward Mount Pleasant) to I-26 East to Charleston. Travel on I-26 to the end (Meeting Street Exit). Turn right onto Meeting Street. Follow Meeting Street for approximately 2 miles to Queen Street. The hotel is on the right. Temporary parking is in front for check in and parking information.
