A 14-story, circular shaped hotel by the Ashley River, guests can enjoy spectacular views of downtown Charleston from the Harborview Restaurant and High Spirits Lounge on the top floor. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a DJ plays music on Friday and Saturday nights. Kids eat for free. A family-friendly hotel, it also caters to leisure and business travelers with meeting facilities. It’s location offers easy access by car into Charleston, the airport or the plantations open for tours on Johns Island across the river. Guests staying here will be pleasantly surprised.

Above average for the usual chain hotel (this is part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group), its round design, inviting restaurant on the 14th floor with great views all day and when the city lights up at night, and nice amenities make this a good choice for visitors. Other nice touches are the free shuttle service (every half hour) into downtown Charleston, and the free parking on-site. Although breakfast is not included in the tariff, guests dining at the rooftop restaurant get a rare look at Charleston while enjoying fresh coffee; otherwise, there’s a waffle house next door.
