Hotel was good. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Location in heart of everything. Rooms need to be freshened up with better decor..looks tired.

Really loved this historic hotel, great location, beautiful old rooms, gas fireplaces, lovely settings. Definitely recommend!!!

Lovely historic hotel in the heart of Charleston. For location, can't be beat. Service was great as well. But the trade off to the ambiance and location is the age and its impact on the noise level. I was streetside on 2nd floor and you could hear people under your window walking by. In addition, I could hear every step the person above me made all night long. I would stay there again but ask for the top floor and/or on the courtyard side.

We stayed here for two nights and it was lovely. Also, they were pretty accomodating to the fact that we got in late Friday night. The rooms are clearly older (which is the point of staying there) but well maintained with clean, updated bathrooms wonderfully comfortable beds, and nicely appointed rooms. They let you choose your continental breakfast and set it outside your door. Good price for being right in the middle of the historic district. If you love downtown Charleston this is the place to stay. Convenient parking also.

Carpet in room and hallways need repair. Beds very uncomfortable, Suggest you bring own body pillow, since not available. Very noisy. Can hear othhers outside. Overall hotel does not appear clean. Will not stay here again.
