small problems - posted on 05/10/2007
just a little mildew on the shower curtain and the drain had to be taken completely out to work...not very sound proof rooms...often heard doors slamming in the night...and the foot steps from above were very noticeable...but overall not big problems
Love Charleston - posted on 03/16/2007
This hotel had a great view of the river and the marina, the construction is all complete and they did a great job on the renovations and the landscaping. Great poolside and underground parking. Two mintue drive to historical downtown. CONS/Bad stuff - no restaurants or shopping in walking distance. You can hear people walking from the room above at night, thin wooden floors I think. Our sliding glass door was permanently foggy in between glass and was hard to slide and lock. I would definitly return to this hotel.
Charleston with a view - posted on 12/29/2006
Beautiful hotel on the riverfront. Nice rooms. I suggest a room with a view of the water or at least the marsh. The location is a bit tricky to get into and out of. Otherwise great experience.
Loved our stay! - posted on 10/14/2006
The Courtyard Marriott is one of the nicest hotels my husband and I have stayed in. The hotel is only a few years old, so everything is very new and clean. The staff was extremely hospitable, and the location is close to downtown but far enough away that it was not noisy. The pool area and hot tub are very nice, and the hotel overlooks the river.
Not the Quality You'd Expect - posted on 01/18/2006
Hotel is convenient, staff at desk and passed in halls cordial. Room decor dated, bed mushy. When we asked for manager, desk clerk politely explained "all in meeting." Manager did call later, said beds 2 years old and he found them "comfortable"... so don't expect change.
Great Deal & Very Close to MUSC - posted on 09/27/2005
We had a very good experience with this hotel. The view from our room was great. This hotel is two minutes from MUSC & this is the best hotel for anyone with business there. The hotel is not within walking distance of the downtown Charleston storefronts, but one could easily drive and park closer by. The restaurant only serves breakfast, but they do it well. The bar is also nice & has a great view of the terrace & riverfront. The hotel was a great deal for the money & We will use this hotel again.
No Perks Hotel - posted on 07/22/2005
My two daughters had a doctor's appt at MUSC, therefore we chose this hotel because of its location. But for vacationers it is too far from all the activities, restaurants. There's not much perks but the rooms were clean. The staff was okay. The girls loved walking around the veranda at night and looking at the riverview from the room. No brkfast included which is standard for all Marriott Hotels.

Overall not bad. Not really walking distance to downtown as advertised. Watch out if you are not asked for a non-smoking room when making a reservation, as you will get smoking. Our room smelled like a Philip Morris convention just left.
