Opened in 1924 and named for General Francis Marion, South Carolina’s legendary “Swamp Fox” of the American Revolution, this elegant 12-story hotel in the heart of Charleston offers fine service, beautiful accommodations, and 18,000 square feet of meeting space, including two historic ballrooms. Curbside doormen greet arriving guests and escort them into the magnificent grand lobby. Located across the street from Marion Square park, a center point for city events and celebrations, it’s a short walk to Charleston Harbor for boat tours and the aquarium, upscale shopping and outstanding restaurants.

A grand dame listed on the National Trust for Historic Places as an Historic Hotel of America, the Francis Marion Hotel is an affordable hotel in great location. Staff is professional, helpful and courteous. One can easily relax in the beautiful, expansive lobby with tall pillars, Queen Anne antiques, original crystal chandeliers, fresh flowers, and afternoon jazz being played on the piano, the essence of warm, Southern hospital. Francis Marion Hotel Accommodations

The hotel features 227 comfortable guestrooms and suites decorated in soft colors and Queen Anne furniture, some with four poster beds, and many with views of the downtown district. Private baths are stocked with luxury toiletries. Other features include flat-panel cable TV, climate control, coffee/tea maker, premium bedding, multi-line telephones, and voicemail.

Take International Blvd to I-526 E (toward Mount Pleasant) and to I-26 E to Charleston-travel about 8 miles.
Take Exit 221/US-17.
At the first stop sign, turn right onto King St.
The hotel is a half-mile on the right.
