About the Embassy Suites Hotel Charleston - Historic Charleston

For visitors who want to be a part of historic Charleston - and at the same time enjoy the latest comforts - this Embassy Suites Hotel offers the best of both worlds. Visually stunning, the building itself was once the home of the famous Citadel Military Academy and has been brilliantly readapted to use as a hotel. The huge glassed in atrium is a great place to relax or enjoy free cocktails during the daily managers' reception. An outside courtyard contains a pool, small jacuzzi, shady seating, and a separate fitness center.
The hotel's location is extremely convenient. Marion Square is next door, with King Street, the major shopping avenue, alongside. The Charleston Visitor Center is just a few steps away where you can catch on-off trolleys. Just a few blocks away, Liberty Square on the Cooper River contains the S.C. Aquarium, a military museum and the docks where you catch boats out to Ft. Sumter.

Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?

Quite a few travelers seem to find the rooms here small and dark, but we were pleased with our accommodations. We recommend asking for a room on an upper floor where the windows offer a view of Charleston. The two elevators never kept us waiting for long. The expensive parking is the one drawback, but many attractions including the Market and the SC Aquarium are within walking distance if you are fairly mobile. We kept our car on the street and had no difficulty getting around. Another option is to use the all-day on-off trolleys you can catch at the visitor center just a block away. The hotel's public places and rooms were extremely clean and the food very ample and edible. You could not buy a better breakfast, and it's all you can eat. Plan to get downstairs early to avoid the crowd. Read our customer reviews?

Embassy Suites Hotel Charleston - Historic Charleston Accommodations

Every room here is a suite - a living room with pull-out sofa bed and bedroom combination with a fully equipped bath. The television in some of the living rooms is a little old fashioned, but the bedrooms have large flat-panel plasma screens, in addition to your choice of comfortable beds. A kitchen area includes a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and sink. Each suite also has free wireless Internet access, as does the hotel lobby.

Amenities offered

Staying here can significantly reduce your vacation food bill. In addition to the daily managers reception, with complementary drinks and snacks, a huge complementary breakfast buffet is served daily in the Exchange Room, the onsite restaurant. It includes everything from cold cereal and bagels to cooked-to-order omelets and grits. The Exchange Room is also open for lunch 12-2 daily and room service is available.
For families with children the hotel offers babysitting and special children's activities.
Perhaps our favorite amenity is the free wireless Internet access. A full business center and helpful concierge completes the services.
