If it wasn't for the construction going on right next to the hotel and for the lack of parking, it would be a very nice hotel to stay in.

The staff were friendly.

Too much construction around the hotel and the parking wasn't adequate.

Flew in to get onboard a cruise ship on the next day. Very good to us after we had a hard day trying to get free of bad weather in Dayton Ohio and missing our connecting flight.

Friendly and nice, good breakfast set up.

Despite its name, there is no river view from this hotel being several miles from the Ashley River. However, its close to Charlestons medical school and three hospitals, and about 1 ½ miles west of the historic district. Parking is free and guests will receive a permit at check-in. If guests dont want to drive, a shuttle ($1.25) from a bus stop near the hotel gets into the heart of downtown Charleston in ten minutes. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, there are several fast-food places within walking distance. This is a good choice for travelers on a budget.

Visitors who dont mind staying outside the historic Charleston area may find this hotel satisfactory, but its not in a location that encourages strolling around the city past sunset. Accommodations and amenities are fine, and its proximity works best for those coming to the city for medical treatment or just needing an inexpensive place to stay. Convenient bus service and free parking are good features.
