Originally on the spot where the Pavilion Hotel stood in 1883 and local artists and writers gathered (including Edgar Allen Poe), this inn is in a great historic district location. With 93 rooms on two stories, the building completed renovations and upgrades in 2007. One of its best features is the free parking (as anyone to Charleston knows, parking can be expensive), and one only needs good walking shoes to get around the city easily, or pick up the trolley outside the hotel door for $1.25 and see the sights.
