Customer Reviews for Best Western Sweetgrass Inn

Good Value - posted on 03/31/2007

I usually stay at the Hampton Suites just down the 17, but decided to try this hotel for a change. The room was quiet and comfortable and the staff was very nice and helpful. The rates were wonderful for the CHS area, and it's only a short drive to downtown. The only downside was the run down neightborhood and proximity to KMart. Would love more healthy choices at breakfast

Convenient and Clean - posted on 03/26/2007

Very pleasant staff, rooms are very clean and comfortable. I only needed a room for one night while in Charleston and it was conveniently located away from the airport and close to downtown Charleston.

Spend a little more - posted on 03/25/2007

The hotel rooms seem to be in need of a deep cleaning and the bathroom is tiny. We noticed that many people seemed to be living there which is not a good sign.

The room was clean. We enjoyed that the room was quiet all night long. The front desk person was very friendly.

This hotel has a proximity to downtown historic center where we wanted to visit. They were very helpful in driving directions and recommended wonderful sightseeing...

Great place to stay - posted on 09/21/2006

Almost didn't go to this hotel because of the negative reviews but chose it because of it's location to all the tourist attractions and was thrilled that we did. I have stayed in lots of hotels all over the US and this was one of the cleanest. Had a non smoking room and it did not smell of smoke. Stayed there five nights in a upstairs room that was cleaned daily, had plenty of fresh towels, a good continental breakfast, comfortable pillow top bed, and a nice clean pool. Would recommend it to all.

Nice Surprise - posted on 08/23/2006

We stayed here while moving our child into the College of Charleston and were pleasantly surprised. While not a luxery hotel by any stretch of the imagination, the staff was very pleasant and helpful, the pool is very large, the rooms are more than adequate - with mini-frig & microwave a plus - and the continental breakfast was better than most. We would definatley stay here again

Disappointing - posted on 12/23/2005

For the price this was a very disappointing hotel. We didn't get any towels during our stay and the room smelled of smoke. We go to Charleton often but we will never stay here again.

clean??? - posted on 12/12/2005

For a non-smoking room it reeked of smoke. Also, after cleaning the room, we were left with no towels and the smoke smell was worse. I probably won't be back to this location!!!

Worst experience - posted on 08/17/2005

The very worst experience I have ever had. The room had an extremely foul odor and on top of that there were no towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo, kleenex and they did not seem to care. After telling them we were going to sleep in our car because there were no vacancies anywhere, they finally agreed to move us. They offered nothing and the room rate of $141.00 was not even close to fair for the treatment we got or the hotel itself. We will never return to this hotel.

Pool looked good. Didn't use. Breakfast was minimal (stale food). Problem with clerk-gave me key to an occupied room. didn't feel safe after that.

Pricey for what you get. - posted on 05/06/2005

Had to ask for towels on arrival. Poor selection in drink vending machine. Water, cokes and one other. Missed wake up call. Message flashing when there was no message. A "bed tax?" Please! Why not a TV or toilet tax as well?

Not impressed - posted on 12/21/2004

We had booked a King size bed for the 2 nights we were there but the first night we got 2 double beds, and the 2nd night we got a Queen size bed; several lights were not working in the room, and the water to the tub was hard to turn on. Literature on this hotel said it had recently been renovated...but we sure didn't see evidence of that!! We were NOT impressed.

Almost A Disaster - posted on 05/01/2004

Please note: we stayed here in Oct'03 and it was great. This time(mar'04)not so lucky--the room we were assigned (non-smoking room, reeked of smoke & had ashes in the bathroom.Their solution? To spray sickeningly aromatic spray which did nothing. The next day we asked to be moved which we were. But then at midnight that night we were awakened by 2 men who let themselves in our room with a roomcard rec'd by them upon checking in!!!!
