Customer Reviews for Doubletree Hotel Pittsburgh City Center

Very expensive parking - posted on 06/01/2007

I thought that I'd get ripped for parking given the prior review. I was ripped. Even harder than expected. There is an $8 late checkout charge for taking your car out of the garage after 3:00 pm. So if you work until 5:00 pm and then take your car you'll be paying $18 plus the $8 late checkout fee. Don't waste your time trying to get the charge reduced or deleted.

We really appreciated the comfortable beds with the fluffy pillows. We were really only at the hotel to sleep, but were very pleased with our rooms.

Good Time - posted on 05/07/2007

Very enjoyable stay and the pool staff were very good with having a child in the pool with parents. Breakfast buffet was great. Staff very helpful and courtesy van took us to the areas in the city and pick up was in an acceptable time frame.

Terrible Service - posted on 04/11/2007

Terrible experience at this hotel. Very rude and slow service. Room assignment wrong; room very small and dark. Expensive parking; slow service in garage. Overpriced restaurant with limited menu and even more limited service. High-speed internet barely functional.

Not worth it - posted on 08/05/2006

Forget the Doubletree if you are looking for luxury accomodations. Valet parking only at $23/night. No all-night room service menu. This hotel is priced as a luxury downtown hotel but it's not.

Pleasant Stay - posted on 06/26/2006

I was in Pittsburgh visiting a friend from college. The service was outstanding and the hotel is beautiful. This is where I will stay anytime I'm in Pittsubrgh

nice stay - posted on 05/08/2006

My cousin and I stayed for a long weekend and had a nice time. There is only one ice machine in the whole building which is inconvenient, however we didn't have many other problems. A free shuttle to anywhere downtown, and nice quite rooms were a plus. Would recommend.

Beautiful Hotel - posted on 03/20/2006

I was part of a small group that stayed at the hotel and I have to say that the level of service shown to our group was superior. The hotel is gorgeous and you really feel at home when you are there. From check in to check out, from the parking garage to the Bigelow Grille Restaurant, we were treated like family. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great property with a great value in Pittsburgh!

We loved the Doubletree! - posted on 03/20/2006

I was recently in Pittsburgh for a convention and my group stayed at the Doubletree. We had a great experience! Everything from the wonderful bedding to the excellent staff could not have been better. The restaurant in the hotel was magnificent. The Doubletree Hotel will be my first choice for any future travel to Pittsburgh!

100 words is not enough! - posted on 10/06/2005

Indoor pool owned by gym next door, people there were rude about kids playing in pool. Charged everything on credit card, but was just now charged again. called to ask what this was informed the valet parking per night and we stayed 3 nights they're supposedly refunding part I wanted to pay for valet services day we checked out was informed they had been taken care of! The debit card was for ID purposes they had NO authorization to use but did. I will NEVER stay here again will tell everyone I know of nightmare we had .

somewhat spartan - posted on 09/09/2005

They were renovating the lobby, which made things a little awkward but not overly so. My only complaint is a relatively small one: we booked a room with 2 beds and got one. We were so tired that we didn't bother trying to fix it, so I don't know how receptive they would have been to correcting the problem. The room was a little cramped and bare-bones, but clean and well maintained.

The room was large, spacious and nice. Unfortunately, the lobby, restaurant, and bar were all undergoing renovations. The bar and restaurant were closed. Across the street from Mellon Arena, a 20 minute walk to PNC Park and a 30 minute walk to Heinz Field.

What a disappointment - posted on 02/21/2005

if you are travelling with small children, avoid this hotel -- although they advertise "pool" - the pool is privately owned and treats hotel guests rudely and there is a limit of 15 people in the pool at any one time. In talking with the members of the health club, it seemed that the water temperature of the pool was " much colder than usual" - was this to keep the weekend guests out? The restaurant was not set up for families in the non-smoking area - only tables of 4 people were allowed.

Good basic hotel - posted on 10/19/2004

This hotel is not elegant, but it is clean and comfortable and does feature a truly full and useable kitchen. Nice bargain for heart-of-Pittsburgh location. Would stay here again.

Bar Closed Early - posted on 09/30/2004

Need to improve restaurant and keep the bar open longer - there were many people in the bar after the baseball game and it made no difference, the bar closed at 11.
