Absolutely charming hotel with exceptional service and location.
No Heat! - posted on 02/24/2007
Location is great. Nice building but seems to be falling into disrepair. Electricity and heat went out the last night we were there. We left the next day at noon. The heat never came back on though we were repeatedly told that it was working and just hadn't made its way to our floor or our room yet. It was 14 degrees that night. We were not allowed early check-in and charged $2 per bag to be held. Won't be returning.

My husband, 4 year old and I stayed for a long weekend. The staff was so friendly, the location was very convenient for getting anywhere you wanted and the neighborhood was just lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend a few days in the city. You are definitely in the heart of it all.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the service was outstanding. I recommend the Latham, even though the restaurants were closed for remodeling.

Comforatable room; however, could use of refurbishment. Lobby could use updating as well.

Have stayed here 5 times. Staff is always exceptional, price reasonable and the location can't be beat. Decor is a little shabby, but the beds are COMFY!
Could be a 4 Star - posted on 05/10/2006
If attention to details were improved, this could be a 4 Star hotel. Carpet was older and a bit lumpy, etc.

Nice hotel but needs minor renovations. Wall paper starting to peel, The bed creaked everytime you moved. Good location and good staff.
Average. - posted on 04/13/2006
The hotel had friendly staff and attentive doormen, but the overall condition of the hotel interior was a little on the shabby side. The room's carpeting was stained and had some burn holes, the bed squeaked, and there was some street noise.
Great hotel at great value. - posted on 04/06/2006
The staff could not be more accomodating. The rooms were large and clean with comfortable beds. The location was super being right in the heart of Center City. I will return.

great place in Downtown Philly - posted on 03/27/2006
A lovely place to stay when on business or vacationing. The Cafe Eno attached is a fine place to grab a late evening bite to eat, chat with the bartender and even some local folks. Walking distance to many attractions. Near the Metro system!
clean and friendly - posted on 03/21/2006
Latham is a clean hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast options needs to be reconsidered. Either offer breakfast or do away with with the option. What they had going on was just tacky at Enos. There was plenty of other coffee shops in the area. The hotel was clean. The mattress was a little too soft. But the staff was very helpful and cheery. I liked where it was located. I would stay again.
Good Deal! - posted on 02/16/2006
The hotel was clean, comfortable and convenient. The only minus was the lack of consistent housekeeping. I only stayed two days but couldn't get fresh towels. Well worth the price, overall.

We found the hotel to be in a central location for an overnight stay to explore Philadelphia for the first time. The staff was friendly and helpful. IThe hotel was elegant and at a reasonable price!
Great Location - posted on 11/11/2004
My favorite thing about the Latham was the great location it has in the heart of Philadelphia. I put my rental car in the hands of the valet service and was able to walk to all my destinations on streets historic and interesting. The staff was congenial and efficient...everything clean and well tended. Not luxurious, the rooms were comfortable, well equipped, and traditional. No loud massive lobby, just a welcoming space and small elevators. It made me feel like I was back in some other decade...but in a good way. I liked the hotel very much and would gladly stay there again.
Very Nice, Simple, Clean, Pretty, Cozy. - posted on 10/26/2004
It was in the middle of the historic district of Philadelphia, close to shops and culture. A perfectly adequate pub is connected with decent food. I had very nice room, the queensize bed was comfortable, a robe in the closet, Neutrogena products in the very clean bathroom, real glass tumblers. Marbletop bureau, coffeemaker in the room. The cost, through the Website, was about $115 including tax for the night. This isn't cheap, but considering that it was exactly where I wanted to be, I was pleased. Also, by contrast, I had stayed at a Days Inn the night before outside of Tillton, PA, off the highway that cost the same amount. Much nicer to stay in town.... I would recommend the Latham. It was just right for my needs.
