Could stand improvement - posted on 08/03/2006
Hotel's convenient to downtown shopping restaurants entertainment and transport (subway stop outside hotel). Hotel's ultralounge XIX chic but expensive ... used Zanzibar Blue (live jazz in basement) instead. Hotel on top 5 floors of 19-story building: some find checkin/lobby hard to find. Good bizcenter. Maid service spotty; tipping didn't improve matters.

The hotel is excellent. The room was very clean, the bedding was excellent, the bathroom was very clean. Housekeeping service was excellent, and the room included everything to make our stay enjoyable and many extras. The room was quiet considering it was in the middle of the city center, and it was well isolated from the adjacent rooms. The building is historic and grand - it reminded me of the Plaza in New York. The location is ideal, right near City Hall, just down Market Street from the Independence Park and right on Walnut street where many of the best restaurants are.
