Overall, the hotel appears to need updating, but was clean and convenient. The staff appeared well trained. Strong odor of smoke in the hallways. Our room was non-smoking and did not have an odor.

The pet-friendly Clarion Hotel New Kensington is 20 miles north of downtown Pittsburgh and provides affordable accommodation for both the business traveler and vacationer. Items included with the room rate are high-speed Internet access, a copy of USA Today, in-room coffee and parking. There is 10.000 square feet of meeting space available for business or social functions. The property is close to the Valley Sports Complex and ice rink, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, the Carnegie Science Center, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team. The hotel is minutes from Pittsburgh's largest industrial park, RIDC Park, which is a hub for several major companies. Pittsburgh International Airport is a 30-minute drive from the property.

Several visitors to New Kensington said this hotel provided acceptable, reasonably priced accommodation. It is an older property but it is well maintained and many thought they front desk staff were both helpful and friendly. Sadly some guests found employees who were rude but those clients were in the minority and most visitors said they would stay at this Clarion Hotel again and enjoy the lower rates than those charged for similar accommodation in downtown Pittsburgh.
