This is a fun hotel especially if you are just out for a good time. It is mainly for the younger set. I wouldn't recommend it to business people. I have stayed here 3 times and it is always noisy due to the great bar restaurant.
The dough fir restaurant and the creative decor.
Noisy and the water aren?t quite hot enough.

Our first room was OK, but when they changed us to a larger room because of the broken TV, things looked up. Our first room had no night stand on one side of the bed and barely had room to walk. There was a bed frame that was a queen, but the mattress seemed to be smaller. The mattresses were very firm (hard). The staff was very nice and helpful. The restaurant was tasty and only a little high priced. There was wonderful jazz swing music just across the street from the parking lot. The parking lot was not always locked, the spaces were tiny and sometimes it was full. When it is full you go the extra lot, but we didn't know that until later. We always got a parking space but, at times it was a hassle. It seems to me the staff at the Jupiter is great, but the manager is not usually there, and they don't have good central management. All in me was prepared for a noisy uncomfortable experience from the other reviewers. This was not our experience. Once we got a bigger room I had a good time. My back did not like the beds, but that is a personal issue.
The desk staff was very pleasant and tried to be helpful. They changed our room when our TV did not work.
At times there is only one person working the whole hotel. This made for a problem getting light bulbs, or all weird things.

This hotel offers a lot as far as entertainment (bands, bar, restaurant, tattoo shops, etc.) but as a result is extremely loud at night and the walls are very thin. Decor is unique and it offers a fun environment but don't expect to sleep well.
The Jupiter is a swanky budget priced hotel. It is a great place to spend the night after a night out enjoying Portlands club scene. Located on the hotel property is the Doug Fir restaurant and Lounge. Enjoy the great local seasonal food 24/7. The menu always has a vegan selection.

Does HotelsByCity recommend this hotel?
It's convenient to get around the area with a Tri-Met stop at the doorstep. Located near a number of great night spots with only a river separating you from the rest of the city's hot spots. This is a great choice if you want to stay away from the chain hotels and are looking for a unique place to spend a holiday. Read our customer reviews below
