Customer Reviews for Marriott Residence Inn Portland Downtown River Place

Excellent Choice - posted on 08/04/2006

I chose this property based on its proximity to the waterfront park for the Brewers Festival. The light rail followed by a ride on the trolly car got me to the hotel from the airport. I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and was happy to learn that every Wednesday a local restaurant caters a free dinner, beer and wine to the hotel guests. After a long flight, it?s nice to hear the words free meal and beer. Clean rooms, great staff, and free daily breakfast. It felt like home. I?ll stay again.

Nice hotel. Banfield right there but still quiet. Clean. Pool nice and warm. Only drawback was the 1 bedroom suite had one king bed. I specified 3 people when booking so we had to sleep like sardines in the bed.

Nice Hotel - posted on 06/07/2006

All around nice hotel, the free breakfast was nice. The only thing is that parking is a bit expensive at 18 dollars a day. It would be nice it this was advertised as well.

Needing Open WIndows - posted on 02/08/2006

We love everything about the room, pool and breakfast EXCEPT that it's SO HOT there. And if you turn on the air conditioner all night (in the winter because it's SO HOT there, then it's noisy. Just one opening window would resolve the problem. We love the trail across the street, and the view. Very convenient to everything in Porltand.

anniversary stay - posted on 01/31/2006

We could not have been happier with our stay in Portland. The service was wonderful! Really friendly and helpful folks throughout the hotel, including recommendations for dinner, great parking deals around town, and directions to hot spots around the town. I casually mentioned that we were celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. When we returned from dinner that evening, complimentary champagne, chocolates were waiting in our room with a congratulatory card from the staff. Thanks again, Marriott!

Great stay! - posted on 08/19/2005

Our group has stayed two years for an annual conference, and both experiences were very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we LOVE being able to eat a great breakfast onsite for no extra charge. We had the suites and they were great. No problems with the staff. All friendly.

No Such Thing as a Guarantee - posted on 06/25/2005

I was very disappointed with this hotel. Guaranteed a non-smoking suite but were placed in a smoking suite. Front desk wanted us to leave the room for 3 hours to fumigate--that after being on the road for 6 hours w/4 young kids! Opted to have them send up Febreze which never showed up. Asked 3 times for a crib delivery. Finally gave up! Requested waiving $18 parking fee for the inconvience. When the bill came the parking fee was still charged. I have never had such a disappointing experience and unfortunately we will not stay here again.

High-end hotel with a very reasonable price. Location is tricky to find, but I would stay there again.

The rooms were large and very comfortable. The Wednesday evening guest reception was very nice. Recommend parking at cheaper lot and taking the trolley (free) to/from the hotel.

The best place for families - posted on 10/25/2004

I stayed here with my 18 month old daughter during Christmas week. The staff was great and they took care of receiving and sending my packages. The rooms are perfect if traveling with children. We enjoyed walking on the riverfront and there are some casual eateries right there. Parking was covered, well lit and secure. I felt very safe and will stay there again.
